thank YOU Katie for driving this bus every year!
I thought the difference was that one sees you later and the other sees you after a while.
for sure!
Happy April 1st. Can't wait to share this "official announcement" with my classes today πππ. #2026mmm #ragebaiting students is my jam

the only machine that should be making music
... A.I. bands and follows a whole bunch of them on Spotify. I was absolutely stunned. I could never. It lacks all depth and life. There is a guy I see on TikTok who posts reactions to A.I. soul covers of pop and rock songs. I replied, "Why do this when there are real people doing better covers?"
... people are doing it with A.I. and it is just stealing the magic. I walked into the kitchen of my side job and heard something cool playing and asked what it was. The cook said it was an A.I. cover of a song from a different genre. He then proceeded to tell me how much he loves....
... be silly just doesn't make sense to me. But these AI platforms have entire forums where users share their "creations" with each other and take it very seriously. There are bands on Spotify. I LOVE cover artists who take a song and reimagine it as a different genre, but now ...
I agree. I don't get the appeal. I liked using A.I. song generators early on for a laugh. Like making a silly song about a topic or writing lyrics for a topic at school and turning it into a gangsta rap because I'd never be able to record that. But listening to A.I. music that isn't supposed to...
For the record, after the first half of round 2, it dropped down to #45 place (out of 98).
The children will be happy.

I entered a bracket into my pool this year that was decided entirely by dice. I used the rules from the MMM dice simulation lesson plan on the crowdsource and digital dice.
At the end of Round 1, it was in 1st place. 29 out of 33 points.
... the students were not happy. #2026MMM
I meant to post this in the morning, but...
#Fitcheck In honor of revealing the That's So Metal round 1 results this morning, I wore one of my many metal shirts featuring an animal and forced students to listen to the song the lyrics on the shirt came from while I passed out rewards. #2026MMM
There is no better feeling than a perfect bracket for the day.
I'd love to hope it stays that way, but I fear that publishers who realize the A.I. stuff can make money still will just start allowing it and lose their commitment to art.
It already happened with the music streamers that are allowing A.I. bands and channels.
I told my cat in the laundry basket that the domestic cat won, but he doesn't seem to care.
ok, that is like the cutest name for a Library Cat. #Browser
I've been waiting for this one ever since the bracket dropped
once again #MMMMetal
ahhh. Damn me and my damn typos!
I got super excited while they were doing work, and they were all like "What?" and I wouldn't tell them the reason. The next day, when I did the reveal, the same ones looked at me and said "That's the one you squealed about yesterday, isn't it?"
I'm starting a campaign to have That's so Metal included every year. The tree of life is full of metal brutality. (also I just want an excuse to play my favorite music at school).
Ok, that's two in one night so far.
I propose that there should be a That's so Metal division EVERY year. (My students can tell you that it is my favorite and that I literally got giddy with excitement when I first read the division drop on darwin day)
