Just saw a job ad for a visiting assistant professor position with a salary range of 30k-39k. I genuinely do not understand how departments can consider that ethical or reasonable. That is complicity in blatant exploitation.

On the contrary, the ongoing military belligerence on all fronts strengthens and legitimizes "security"rhetoric that is hyper-masculine and populist. This reduces the likelihood that we will observe any moderation of extremist tendencies in Israeli politics.
While perceptions of the war on Iran might be somewhat critical in u.s. in Israel there is little criticism even as the government expands its existing military belligerence in Lebanon and continues its genocidal policies towards Palestinians. Worse this war will have no effect on Israeli elections
The ethnic cleansing in the west Bank has ramped up and armed Jewish settlers in collaboration with the army are regularly attacking Palestinians and forcibly expelling them. Simultaneously Israel is preventing aid from entering gaza. Israel must be held accountable.
Colonel shariki informed these multi generational communities that will be forced to leave their homes in the next year & a half. This is after and during a violent longterm campaign led by neighboring Jewish settlers to make these Palestinian communities livelihood impossible & destroy their homes
On 3.8 colonel shariki, the Jordan Valley brigade commander, along with an idea spokesperson rep. Met with a number of communities of Palestinian herders in the northern Jordan Valley to inform them area C will be cleared soon of Palestinians and also *further* limited their herding ground

When they say "Inevitable" - we ask who determined that?

Very excited to join an incredible panel of Feminists and politicians to discuss power dynamics in Israeli politics.
This is an election year in Israel and the stakes are incredibly high.

A couple months ago I wrote for the #ForumforRegionalThinking arguing there are no real alternatives to right wing extremism in Israeli politics - it's a sobering discussion of policies in the upcoming election regarding Palestinians

The Logic of Connective Faction:
How Digitally Networked Elites and Hyper-Partisan Media Radicalize Politics
w/ @yunkangyang.bsky.social & @mikecowburn.bsky.social
Online radicalization doesn't just affect the public.
It also reshapes how elites & parties behave. doi.org/10.1080/1058...
Maybe you don't care, we don't know each other so my response was not about you specifically. But realistically a lot of this type of conversation is very concerned with who white women date.
When I first started hearing this it was after the 2016 election and there was a lot of hand ringing about ppl not dating across the aisle and that political polarization negatively impacts dating opportunities. The conversation was motivated by the gender voting gap. It *is* gendered & racialized.
I think this question is some white supremacist patriarchal bullshit. It relies on the idea that (primarily) women (preferably white) be available to (mostly white) men who are interested in them. The question challenges the idea that we are always entitled to say no, for whatever reason. End rant.
Destroying bureaucracy, independent journalism, academic institutions, public intellectual activity and research, Healthcare, freedom of movement, election integrity, was NEVER about government spending. This attack is an outcome of militarized ethnoreligious racist autocracy. Ask me about Israel.
Here's the book on how occupation never goes well, by @dmedelstein.bsky.social www.cornellpress.cornell.edu/book/9780801...
You wanna know what a country looks like with a hollowed out bureaucracy and diplomatic corps, with diplomacy and foreign affairs handled by extremist, inexperienced, sychophantic yes men? Look at Israel. What it means for military to follow illegal executive orders? Israel. AMA.
I know everyone is gonna look TO Latin Americanists to understand what is happening, but hear me out - a really relevant case for thinking through consequences is Israel. You want to know what it looks like for an executive to engage in destructive war unchecked by the legislature? I got you. AMA.
Nothing says we care about government spending like going to war. The most expensive government programming. 2026 is already delivering.
