As far as huge overarching diagnoses go, hard to disagree with this one

I like birds, I cannot lie. Is that a flicker, or a sapsucker? What part of the country I wonder. Anyway, cool

They get it. Energy security is national security and homegrown renewables are energy security
#energysky if Hormuz remains closed, is US the marginal global supplier in oil and/or gas?
Let this lift you a little today
This is a great thread, very entertaining.
Also, what a bunch of f'in clowns, just destroying institutions built over generations in one short thoughtless, hubristic, malevolent year.
Kier Starmer:
"What gives us control is renewables. Our own home-grown energy which is then more secure and more independent.
That’s why I think we should go further and faster on renewables.
Let’s get control of our own energy…so we don’t have to keep worrying that our bills are going to go up"
Don't let anybody tell you that progress on clean energy isn't possible with Trump in office. We are making progress at the state level! advancedenergyunited.org/press-releas...
This is amazing.

United’s new report, A Pathway to a West-wide Energy Market: Affordability, Reliability, and Choice, written by our Senior Policy Director @btturner.bsky.social & our Managing Director Leah Rubin Shen, has received support from several Western state leaders, member companies, & industry leaders.

At least 1700 kids detained, thousands more witnessed or impacted by this thuggery. It's barbaric, and will and should haunt us all.
Gee, why this new crazy thing? Oh corruption, yup. "The... Bridge is set to absorb traffic from the nearby Ambassador Bridge which is owned by Detroit’s Moroun family and ... [who] have appealed to Trump to stop construction of the new bridge." www.washingtonpost.com/politics/202...
I approve of this list. I support our elected officials fighting like hell to enact these very basic reforms which, as far as I can tell, are already required by law.
Yes I did have to take it in for the warranty repair. Couple of days out of service. Inconvenient, but not a huge deal
A VPP is by definition an aggregation across thousands of devices and as such can achieve very predictable performance in aggregate. It ain't too bold to bet on the expected value of a normal distribution.
Very proud of our new report. Laying out a vision for how the West can stitch together our abundant energy resources and diverse demands to help meet our nation's challenges. It's a new, uniquely Western answer to energy markets: bythewest.org
Today, the West is channeling the same cooperative ambition that built big projects, such as the Union Pacific railroad, Columbia River dams, & Pacific Transmission Intertie, by building a regionwide energy market platform—the Regional Organization for Western Energy.

Plus I charge off-peak, so not increasing peak load, in fact increasing load factor on Tx and Dx so downward pressure on rates and (at least in spring and fall) likely using otherwise curtailed renewables. Sounds like a win-win all round.
With respect Xiao I think you're way off there - I bought my Ioniq for transportation (it's a fantastic car). So don't count the asset value. If someone wants to pay me to use it in a VPP, that's pure gravy.
Is price response predictable and dependable enough to change how we build the grid? What and how long will it take to change grid planning so we actually build less gen, tx and dx because of price responsive demand?
Note from the editors: ProPublica is publishing the names of the two federal immigration agents involved in the fatal shooting of Minnesota protester Alex Pretti. We believe there are few investigations that deserve more sunlight and public scrutiny than this one, in which two masked agents fired 10 shots at Pretti as he lay on the ground after being pepper-sprayed. The Department of Justice said it is investigating the incident, but the names of the two agents have been withheld from Congress and from state and local law enforcement. The policy of shielding officers’ identities, particularly after a public shooting, is a stark departure from standard law enforcement protocols, according to lawmakers, state attorneys general and former federal officials. Such secrecy, in our view, deprives the public of the most fundamental tool for accountability.
A note from our editors:
"Agents in three vehicles began chasing her and trying to force her to pull over. Eventually they box her in, three agents get out of the car in front of her, with their guns drawn and try to force her out of her vehicle." | MPR News share.google/JgBtUinYb92S...
My personal experience is 20 years out of date, but I continue to believe the California community college/CSU/UC system is one of the greatest engines of social mobility the world has ever seen. Second only to unions and the armed services? Anywho, also ofc, Stanfurd sucks.
“God damn them all.”
The “prosecute the former regime at every level” candidate has my vote in 2028.

I'd ask about development timeline as compared to IOU procurement timelines. IF their price were competitive, can they deliver in an IOU's 3-5 year timeline? Do they need to do site ID and test wells etc before they can bid the project? And if so what do they need to finance pre-development?
