I think we may see a significant change in attitude toward seniors as life expectancy increases. Of course, at this point in the world's journey that may not happen as soon as it should.
By the way, as I get older I may not be able to do what I once did, but I can do other things. Really well.
True. And they're the first ones to play the inverse race card when they don't get their way.
How many synonyms are there for reprehensible, I wonder?
May I live long enough to see just one of them get the comeuppance they really deserve.
As a white woman who was a child in the '50s, a young woman in the '60s & '70s, a working single parent in the '80s & '90s, a middle-aged office worker until 2013, & then a senior on a fixed income, I can say, categorically, BULLSH*T, Ron!!
I've seen only a few minutes of this new guy talking, and his comments are rely very heavily on the word "Christian."
She kept a close eye on the relationship between Social Security & legislators who might interfere with it. She invited younger people to join her, reminding them that her fight would be theirs some day. And she participated in their crusades as well.
She was admirable.
She spoke out against ageism generally, and championed the continued relevancy of seniors. Among many other issues, she spurred investigations of nursing home abuse & challenged the notion that such homes were simply storage units for the elderly.

Oh, you got me. I was going to post this one.
You have to admit -- it's the ginchiest.
And by "investigated," they mean "harassed."
Who feels like celebrating? Not me.
This is one that's still floating around in my brain, along with her other big hit "The Name Game."

Never. The mention of one song brings up a dozen more I might like better.
And if you recall, Dubya was another who gave nicknames, but his were affectionate.
When thete's a right way and a wrong way to do domething we know which one D*nald's going to choose.
This seems so narcissist. My sociopath mother was another who made up disparaging nicknames for everyone around her.
Just one more thing about her that made me cringe. Now we have to live it all over again.
This is my laptop screensaver, but mine is in b&w. Two of my very favorite people.
It's so nice, and rare, to see a photo of them as themselves.

In the last 20 years or so, the only medico who even glanced at the medical history form we always have to futilely fill out was my new dentist.
And not only did she read it, she went over it with me on my first visit.
That's a doctor.
One in ten? I looked at the studies included here, and I don't understand the survey sampling. One says it used an estimated population.
Can you imagine what the US would have looked like in 1957 if every tenth teenage girl was pregnant? Glad it's better, but I'm not sure of the science.
To me this indicates we'll be hearing of similar charges against Fuller pretty soon.
When I was a girl we were told that avocados were bad for you, and that you should always eat beans with rice because they "balance each other out."

A poetic and highly laudatory piece, not that the subject doesn't deserve it.
As it happens, I went to the Brooklyn public school impressively named Marquis de Lafayette High School. We were "The Frenchies."
So sweet. And I'd be very happy in that room.
A happy birthday wish to one of the world's great international pianist/conductors, Murray Perahia.
He's from The Bronx. I've been a fan of his since he was a music student here in NYC 50+ years ago. He's brilliant.

I've loved this song since I first heard the Al Hibler hit recording (1955 or so). I never questioned the title, and had no idea for years that it was the theme from a prison film called "Unchained."
If you know that, the lyrics make more sense, not that they have to.
