Hi. I'm still looking for work! I'm a games generalist programmer that has done tons of different things over the past 15 years:
- game design & engine development
- audio programming for music games & board games
- graphics programming & tools engineering
- ui work
someone must have a lead for me?

I don't think people understand how hard it is to work in the video-game industry right now. If you've been laid off, it can take months if not years to find new work. If you haven't been laid off, you're anxious that you will be laid off.

Unfortunately I was one of the 1000 folks let go of by Epic Games this morning. As always I stand in solidarity with the workers and hope we all can land on our feet.
Remember, this is not a reflection on you, your work, or your value as a person. Reach out if you want to chat or have job for me!
It's true.

It’s not about whether you personally like or dislike remote work - it’s about executives trying to strip options, jobs & rights away from *everybody*.
Working remotely is not just a better setup for many disciplines: it allows teams to include different people w/ different strengths & experiences.

🎮 Skills in game design - can easily fit a programmer/designer hybrid role or work closely with design teams
🌎 Would prefer remote roles (or roles near Dundee), but will consider relocating within the UK or EU if it's a perfect fit!
Hey all, I'm open to work for roles in the Games Industry, would appreciate any shares!

Workers protest outside Rockstar North in Edinburgh on Friday January 9th.
Our statement concerning the decision to not grant interim pay relief to the member's fired by Rockstar. We remain confident in the strength of our case against Rockstar Games and we reiterate our firm belief that Rockstar broke the law when it summarily dismissed 31 union members.
We'll be publishing our full report from the hearing tomorrow afternoon (UK time), but needless to say, there's an awful lot of additional context to understand about what happened here.
This is a really tough outcome for the union's members, especially those who were in the UK on work visas.
Guy who has only beaten the first boss, fighting his second boss: Taking a lot of damage from this...
This is perhaps a good time to mention that I attended this preliminary hearing at the start of the week, met some of the fired union members in its aftermath and have been able to review Rockstar's evidence in-person for myself.
We'll have more to share once the result has been announced.
hell yeah

Open Letter to the Executive Leadership at Build A Rocket Boy
We stand in solidarity with employees and ex-employees at Build a Rocket Boy as they file legal claims through our union and publish an open letter, condemning the way in which they’ve been mistreated and discarded by the studio’s millionaire executives.

Spent a week in Tuscany with my partner, pretty sick IMO
I've had many conversations re: "not respecting my time" about Blue Prince, which I think might be the perfect example of a game that creates both worthwhile criticism of how it handles progression and also more instinctive "why won't I just make progress" arguments
It's been a while.
Glad to be announcing a new game, and happy that it is something experimental and weird: a tiny, tense, turn-based strategy game about merging units into spectacular combinations, and then watching them evaporate thousands of bugs.
