The apparent theory here--SPLC was defrauding donors by paying right-wing extremist org informants, and also took completely legal steps for obscuring the money trail for very obvious reasons on this totally legal thing to do--is ludicrous even by the notoriously malleable standard for wire fraud.

I want to highlight HOW MANY different angles this regime is pursuing to be able to strip people of citizenship, this is obviously a key component of their long-term strategy and the endgame is the same as the current game: ethnic cleansing.

Across five prose fiction categories, there are 30 different authors shortlisted.

That means no author was shortlisted more than once for a novel, short story, novelette, novella, or series.

Awesome to note there are 10 authors who appear on the ballot in those five categories for the first time.

One of the guys is my height (read: tiny) and tattooed and hairy and I kinda wanna be like HEY ARE YOU ALSO.... but, y'know.

"try to write something radically different from your norm" (length, genre, form, tone, poetry vs prose etc) is also good "write something else", since your brain already doesn't know how to do it anyway, then you can just mess around! And try to learn to have fun again

Whether that's:
- write something else that doesn't matter if it's bad or miserable (background info, side story, writing exercise, frivolous whatever)
- do some other part of writing process (research, line edit, etc)
- some other creative activity entirely

Writing is in fairness never my primary thing, though I'd like to start upping its priority as other work has faded!

But usually my answer is "do something else".

I'm not reading a book that dang long on my friggin phone screen, which hoopla would require 😤
