I thought it was gorgeous. They just didn’t write the show to take advantage of it. The whole thing feels like a very disjointed production.

The new Dune show has amazing cinematography, but it’s all tell, and almost no show, at least in the pilot. Horrible writing so far.

You love that messy, hand drawn look? Don’t use line correction.

You like voice acting? Don’t use Eleven Labs.

These are all valid tools for artists to leverage, but if you love that part of the process, don’t automate it. Do the stuff you enjoy and automate the rest.

The key to using AI well as an individual artist, just like all creative automation, is to automate everything except for the parts that you love.

You love the darkroom? Don’t buy a digital camera.

You love frame by frame animation? Don’t rig your characters.

The workflow is way different than AE and takes some getting used to, but @cavalryapp.bsky.social is so much more intuitive for making sexy PowerPoints, as I like to call them.

I totally agree. I’ve just been busy with client work that isn’t that interesting to post and other art stuff that isn’t ready yet.

Yep. I just haven’t been on the app that much, haha

I literally only use it in the context of the AI debates to counter their narratives since I have the work history to back it up.

Otherwise, I completely agree. I almost never call myself an artist aside from that because I don’t see the point. I’d rather be more specific.

Does anyone know if there’s a way to login to Bluesky from Desktop?

I think there’s also a divide between artists who see art as primarily a mechanical skill and those who see it primarily as a means of expression.

There are absolutely reasons to value both, but I obviously fall WAY on the expression side of things.

On the flip side, the most pro-AI artists tend to be people with either photography/video backgrounds, or artists who use a HUGE variety of mediums, and are thus largely tool agnostic.

I know I’ve said this before, but I’m once again struck by the way that different categories of artists are reacting to AI art tools. If someone has an anti-AI take, 9 times out of 10, they’re a digital illustrator first and foremost. The last 1 out of 10 is a 3D artist.
