Evangelion is so weird. The original series was inconsistently animated, emotionally very raw, with an incomprehensible ending. And yet it connected with people. And then became a hyper commercial IP used to sell everything and anything.

Almost any other year Frieren would be the best anime even with the steep competition of Delicious in Dungeon, and yet both are getting absolutely bodied by Dandadan.
