I don't ship to US customers from Canada. I use a US fulfillment center and the USPS instead, because I am a dual citizen. ;)

If you do come to Canada, though, I will have a pop-up shop in downtown Vancouver in May and June. It would be lovely to meet you. :)

A simple hand-dyed fade set of five skeins of a soft, neutral denim blue running from deepest fresh denim to faded sky blue. These are dyed on a chunky weight superfine alpaca yarn with glorious sheen, loft and a luxurious hand. And they are already more than 10% off because they are sold as a set!

Hand-dyed skeins of a very sturdy, hard-wearing Simple DK with a 75/25 mix of superwash merino and nylon. Ideal for items that will be worn often and washed more often, such as thicker socks and baby things. The colorway is a vibrant green called Ceremonial Matcha.

Hand-dyed skeins of a finer weight of superwash merino and nylon blend. Suitable for items like socks but the strength and softness will also work very well for light shawls, sweaters and shirts. The colorway is a rich, powerful deep red called Winterberry.

A little taste of the volcano.

It does, I think, at least in the small sample I just read. But it isn’t an overwhelming note. Just a hint of the terroir in the wine, perhaps. :)

*nods* I wondered what your linguistic history might be, and whether the story was composed in English or some other language. The global south is so big that there are many possibilities. :)

Thank you for writing so well. I noticed in your profile you’re from the global south—was English your first language?

This is a pretty one. I like it much better than most flash—I so rarely leave a modern flash story feeling that I’ve seen/heard enough.

The old masters did it like this. It works the way O. Henry and Yuri Kazakov stories work.

I do my best. They are both grown-ups now and there are boundaries between the parts of their lives they want to share with me and those they don't. I do my best to meet them where they are and treasure and support them; I think it's what every kid deserves from their parents.

I felt pretty good when both of them seemed able to date and break up with people in their teens and 20's without it being a big deal.

They're also both extremely principled, loving people who work hard and do the right thing more often than not. Don't know if that's on me? But I'm proud of them. 💕

Sadly my kids and I are in much the same position. My gender conformity game has always been very hit-and-miss and I never learned most the skills that my kids need to do good make-up in the 2020's.

I don't love or respect them less because they want to look cool. I just have nothing to teach them.

Screenshot of a tweet responding to another tweet. @SketchesbyBoze writes "In Fahrenheit 451, the abolition of reading began with tech companies simplifying books into summaries that you could read in five minutes. Because people no longer engaged with the texts, they forgot how to think. Then came the book-burnings."
Quote tweeting a tweet by @AntonJaegermm
"Very cool how every piece of digital technology is now purposively designed to breed illiteracy"
Attached to that tweet is a document or image we can't see. instead we see a pop up that reads "This appears to be a long document. Save time by reading a summary.”

From Jan. 2025 - March 2026, 100+ pro-censorship bills were introduced in state legislatures. At least 40 bills would penalize libraries and library workers with lawsuits, fines, or even jail time for protecting people’s the right to read.

Today's a great day to support some creators.

Writers and artists and creatives of all sorts: reply with a link to one of your works, if you'd like. And feel free to tell us about it.

Everyone: let's check through the replies and buy some creations and support some human beings.

I once wrote a horror story about the catacombs of Rome with a sort of Easter theme! It's free to read if you have Kindle Unlimited, only 99 cents if you don't. Reviews are appreciated!

I swear to God that when I wrote the below skeet about popular Domino's mascot "The Noid" driving someone into violent paranoia, I did NOT know that a version of it really happened?!?!?

What the fuck????

That it was the SECOND time Stephen West chatted with a Nazi textile artist was news to me, I must admit.

The fact that the interviewer unironically refers to himself as “Knitler” did crack me up, however—because it’s the perfect term for every butt-hurt MAGA poster who ever flounced off Ravelry…🧶

Anyway. That's where I'm at right now. The world I've always wanted is a diverse one. The people I want to join in fellowship won't always agree, or have their interests and knowledge perfectly align. That's what "difference" really means, and the price of admission is non-violent communication.

No, people still don't get a pass for doing real harm to people. Sexual assault, funding hate groups, ruining people's lives--that stuff doesn't get a pass. But I don't have time to tear anyone apart for the crime of having a bad take or a bad day, when every other day of the week they're fine.

So for the foreseeable future, I'm pretty much done getting on anyone's case for trivial crap. I don't care if well-meaning people make a mistake. I think someone with limited information or experience might just doing the best they can with what they know, and they can do better with help.

If you care about the details, I'll lay it out.

My current view is that people on my "side of history"--the folks who believe in bodily autonomy, personal liberty, equality, social justice, human rights--have tried so hard lately to be perfect that we've forgotten how to live together in peace.
