Might have been Carpenter himself who called it a movie about the end of the world, without saying it out loud.

Good. And I say that as an American. I've been hearing the things that Gates has been saying lately. Anything that limits his power is a good thing.

Superpower Suicide The geopolitics of our moment

“Superpower Suicide” is a concept to help understand the approach of the Trump regime to the rest of the world. We are fighting a war for no reason we can name, losing it, and covering our defeat with genocidal and apocalyptic propaganda.

This is not a book for feeling good about the world. You're not going to see eye to eye with him on everything - I don't - but I still think everyone needs to read it. He raises questions that can't be put off, not anymore.

You've captured one of my favorite kinds of weather. Sitting in a car, drinking coffee on a rainy day is peaceful in a way I can't explain - I'm a writer, not a poet.

It's been well over a year and all I've heard from the "Don't tread on me," crowd is cheerleading for government violence against inoffensive people. Guarding against tyranny has always been a bullshit excuse.

"My son always texts to say he's on his way home. So I open the door, letting his 17 year old cat, and 16 year old doggo know that he's on his way. This is them waiting for him. Though it was adorable, and wanted to share." ❤️

Motown knows that when the lights go out, it's his cue to come down off the bookshelf and sit on me while I read before bed. It's his nightly routine.

"Waste": "Money not going to billionaires."
"Fraud": Already illegal; only prosecuted when committed by icky working people.
"Abuse": A useful term that means nothing in this context, but sounds bad, and completes the requirement of three.

I suppose that depends on what *you* mean by pressure.

Excellent. Hamad's perspective is global, and this is closer to anti-colonialism than antiracist, but pulls no punches for either. Some of the writing is confusing and jumbled, but it's still highly recommended.
