Not sure if the photo shows Worcester, MA, but they had a bunch of resource tents yesterday in the park. It was great!

Half Marathon training today:
✅ Ran all 3.5 miles for today’s assignment
✅ Succeeded in only looking at my watch at designated times, to clock how long a particular parking lot loop was
Zombie shuffle pacing continues, but at the moment, I’m focusing on running all of the miles, not speed.
Half marathon training goals met today:
✅ Run all 3 miles of today’s assignment
(Almost) Check watch only at designated points - the last .4 mile was very check-heavy
Hellz yes! Kudos, @mayorwu.boston.gov !
Mint-green Brooks running sneaker sitting on top of its blue box
Now it’s getting real: new running sneakers because the previous pair were worn through. Next run is tomorrow
Training for the Boston Athletic Assn’s Half Marathon starts tomorrow, and my new hobby starts today: planning my runs - days, times, location, clothes, food.
Just finished TJ Klune’s _Under the Whispering Door_, sitting in a park while The College Student hangs out with her roommates.
And I am full-on ugly crying.
The book is so lovely, so wrenching, so poignant. So very good.
You should read it. Have a hankie for the last 1/3 or so.
Thank you!
Just how unhinged they’ll get is part of the fun of listening!
Definitely a successful author-narrator! Some I’ve listened to are …. not
Same here!
Yeah, conditions are brutal today. I am nowhere near a dedicated-enough runner to push on in this.
Thanks!
I’m glad they’re doing better!
Earlier this afternoon, the Mayor of Boston declared a city-wide emergency for Sunday through Tuesday, so I’m relieved the B.A.A. has this option.
Noooooped out of the Boston Athletics Assn’s 10k tomorrow. They offered a deferral that preserves distance medley status, and I was immediately relieved. Heat stroke isn’t heroic.
Ran a 12:00-min mile on the treadmill yesterday & again today. Temps will be hot & muggy for the B.A.A. 10k on Sunday. Trying to do a bit of heat training this week so I remember the difference between gritty determination and “walk, you ejit”
Gorgeous!!!
Last-minute chance to see _Dogma_ back in theaters for its 25th anniversary. Matt & Ben were still babies!!
Today’s run: same route, morning, not evening (8:30ish), shaved 27 seconds off of Monday’s time (Wed was a different route). Pace now at 13:00. I’ll take it!
Me: Yay, it’s sleep with the windows open weather. The cool air is so refreshing.
Also me, awake at 4:30 a.m.: Why are the birds so dang loud?
Today’s run: different course, quite warm, shorter but faster. Clocked my first 12:30 mile in ages.
Notes: If running much later in the day due to heat, eat earlier. Try to run in the pre-commute hours, instead of the post-commute hours. It’ll be cooler.
Good job on hydration during the day!
Today’s run: Same route, pace was 12 seconds faster. Not entirely a victory, though; I had to stop to catch my breath before getting home. Note to self: hydrate BEFORE running, as well as after.
My haul from DIY Craft & Thrift’s fill-bag sale this weekend: highly successful!
Today’s run: Total of 12 seconds off of last Sat’s pace on the same route (I was mistaken last time: 6 seconds faster on Tues & 6 more today). Bonus points for not startle-kicking the dog that came up behind me, unleashed, barking very close to my ankles. I shrieked impressively!
Oh that’s …. Unfortunate
Today’s run pace was 30 seconds per mile faster than the same run on Saturday. I’ll take it. Improvement is the goal.
Turns out, when the MFA offers free admission, be there before they open. Because when you arrive one hr after opening, the entry line wraps 2/3 of the way around the building.
So instead we went to Castle Island and walked out to the Sugar Bowl. A lovely day, warm and sunny.
My irises are blooming! I squeaked with surprise and joy when I saw them this morning!
