The correspondents‘ dinner attendees care about the career boost and the chance to wear fancy clothes more than they care about the freedom of their family and friends. That‘s the obvious explanation I see.

Shoutout to The Atlantic reporters for publishing these massive scoops instead of waiting years to put them in a book.

Dismantling Voice of America was one of the most devastating things I’ve witnessed. VOA wasn’t propaganda, it was proof that free press could criticize its own leaders and still survive. And now we’re throwing away one of our greatest tools of freedom.

A poll he doesn’t like: “It’s a rigged poll.”

An election he loses: “The election was rigged. It was stolen.”

A court ruling that goes against him: “The entire process was rigged. Judge was unfair to me.”

Media coverage he doesn’t like: “Fake news. I’ll sue em.”

What a weak, pathetic, coward.

Figure showing number of competitive grants mentioning women from 2015-2025. The number was rising until recently, with a precipitous drop in the last year.

Figure showing number of competitive grants mentioning women from 2015-2025. The number was rising until recently, with a precipitous drop in the last year.

At the end of 2024, the National Academies put out a report concluding the NIH has woefully underfunded women’s health research, and they suggested $15 B should be invested over the next 5 years.

Here’s what’s happened instead. Hard to study women’s health if you can’t say “women.”

For the record, for anyone who’s forgotten, it’s sheer madness for a president to contradict himself nearly every day. It’s profoundly wrong that we can’t trust the veracity of a single thing that he says.

Victoria Toensing @VicToensing Hubby being sworn in as Counsel to the Attorney General. 4:04 PM · Apr 20, 2026 · 6,199 Views Jason Reding Quiñones, the US Attorney in Miami, swearing in a much shorter Joe DiGenova.

Joe DiGenova, whose wife once solicited payments from foreigners to lie about Joe Biden in 2019, just got sworn in to investigate things those things he lied about in the past.

Over the weekend I laid out why this is so problematic.

Opinion | New Hungarian PM says government was funding CPAC but won’t anymore “I believe the state should never have financed them in the first place,” Péter Magyar said this week. “It was a crime.”

Not enough people are talking about this.

Hungary’s incoming PM has said that Viktor Orbán used Hungarian government funds to help finance CPAC, the flagship networking event for GOP candidates, members of Congress, and conservative media in this country.

Beginning to think that the Trump presidential library, like TrumpCoin, or in an earlier era, his hotels, is just a useful front for processing bribes to the President.

Did Donald Trump Promise Iran $20 Billion? If So—Is that Treason? On Earth One, no—it’s Iran’s money, after all. But on MAGA Earth, if Biden or Obama had done it …

"This all could have been avoided if Trump had just stayed in the JCPOA...but it was Obama’s brainchild, which meant it had to be torn up, simply because Trump is such an insanely insecure and vindictive man."

It seems like the fact that this political movement -- what, 25, 30% of the country? -- has effectively convinced itself of a grand collective paranoid hallucination ... that this hallucination has reached the highest echelons & is now dictating strategy ... ought to ...

I dunno, matter?

Sorry to be overly sincere for a second, but here's why we decided to persevere through all of the bullshit and take over InfoWars.

There's just gotta be a line somewhere.

Thank you @pablo.show for letting me talk so openly about this.

I'll simply say again that for Shlaes to resurface in The Economist at this moment is an indicator of an ambient concern that Rooseveltian policies and politics are increasingly likely. The thing about the New Deal is, it was *immensely popular.* That's terrifying to certain people

The damage Netanyahu has done to Israel's standing in the world is incalculable. He basically wedded his country to an authoritarian movement in the United States that Americans, sooner or later, are going to soundly reject.

The rise of the shadow docket in 2016 was followed in 2017 by another procedural trick from the Roberts Court, known as "Munsingwear vacatur," which they weaponized to wipe out progressive precedent without having to explain why. Profs. Lisa Tucker (my wife) and Michael Risch (he's not) explain. 1/2

This is a great point - its a very specific version of "the west" while excluding a lot of other values. And the abandonment of soft power seems bizarre if you genuinely believe western values are superior.

A clip from The New York Times reads: "But only the entities that officially paid the tariffs are eligible to recover that money. That means that the fuller universe of people affected by Mr. Trump’s policies — including millions of Americans who paid higher prices for the products they bought — are not able to apply for direct relief.

The extent to which consumers realize any gain hinges on whether businesses share the proceeds, something that few have publicly committed to do. Some have started to band together in class-action lawsuits in the hopes of receiving a payout."

The average American family paid $1,700 in tariffs last year, according to the bipartisan Congressional Joint Economic Committee. Few will ever see any of that money back. The refunds will go to companies, if doled out at all. What a joke.
