Stepping up my energy a bit with an upgrade of this early 60s album by Tacoma Washington's garage rockers The Wailers. True to form, one label has fallen off this styrene plastic LP but it was in the sleeve so both are in hand. This copy isn't perfect (they never are) but it plays much better than my old copy. Thrift find.

Amazingly, this sounds pretty great using the mono cartridge, ignoring most scuffs/scratches, pushing surface noise into the the background.

The cover is literally chewed up & the vinyl looks trashed. But... its an original 1956 Bud Powell LP with cover art by Mad Magazine's Don Martin. And, for 1$, its as close to an OG as I've ever gotten (even poor condition copies sell for lots, nice ones much more). Amazingly, this sounds pretty great using the mono cartridge, ignoring most scuffs/scratches, pushing surface noise into the the background.

Belated happy birthday to the legendary John Sebastian! Now playing his brilliant Top 20 hit 1970 eponymously titled solo debut. The lower image is the same album issued simultaneously by MGM as a contractual obligation from his Lovin' Spoonful days. John kindly signed it for me at one of his shows here some years back while explaining its backstory.

The hype-y liner notes make it sound like Harryhausen's "Dynamation" was done by the producer and Hermann. But for $1, I can't complain. Never saw this anywhere before...

Nifty bargyn bin find, a near perfect condition of the 1959 soundtrack to Ray Harryhausen's classic animated film "The 7th Voyage Of Sinbad." With no disrespect to Mr. Hermann's wonderful score, its kind of lame that the producers of this album barely mention Harryhausen save for the tiny credits on the back cover.
