PHOTO by Aleksandar Pasaric. A tall, twisting skyscraper rises against a soft, overcast sky. Its sleek façade is covered in a grid of uniform windows that reflect subtle hues of light, giving the structure a dynamic appearance. The building’s midsection gently spirals, creating an elegant, sculptural form that contrasts with the otherwise vertical lines. The perspective emphasizes its towering height and fluid geometry.
Architecture weaves magic when calculation intertwines with imagination.

Balcony view of the sun rising over the distant horizon.
Marseille remains in the shadows.
The blue sky is blended with tangerine light.
Contrails provide evidence of a busy night/morning up in the local skies.

I had a dear friend, Bernadette, who was an excellent
artist and a Professor of Art at the University of Maryland and a truly lovely soul. Every year she would hand paint several eggs as a gift to us for Easter. They're really exquisite.
Happy Easter🌟

Pigeon perched on branch, photo, description from ebird: ‘A fairly large pigeon of lowland and foothill rainforest interior. Pale pinkish head, orange underparts, metallic emerald green wings and back, and a purple rump. It is usually solitary, difficult to see and does not usually fly above the canopy. Similar to Rufescent Imperial Pigeon, but Purple-tailed is found at lower elevations and has an obvious pale gray tail band. Call, two introductory “tuk-tuk” notes followed by a long, rather out of tune, rising then falling “ooo-woo-ooo”’

A 1944 map by geologist Harold Fisk charts a 40-mile stretch of the Mississippi River from Friars Point to Gunnison, Mississippi. Fisk used aerial photos and maps to estimate the past and then-present channels. A black and white photograph of a weathered, ivy-strangled tombstone in a somewhat feral boneyard bordered by trees still waiting for their spring finery.
As an author, I treat the boneyard as a resource. Its gravestones are lithic library. Rarely will I walk its paths without being gifted a character's name, a tale to tell. It whispers to me. The dead desire to talk and it would be rude to ignore them. – #CLNolan

Alice Augusta Ball found the cure for leprosy at 23.
She died in a mysterious lab accident at 24.
Arthur Dean stole her research, stole it and renamed it from "The Ball Method" to "The Dean Method."
It took 90 years before her original research papers were found and she got the credit due to her.

Photo of a cuneiform tablet shown from the front, back, and various side angles. At the bottom is a watermark for the Yale Babylonian Collection, and to the left of that watermark is a 1cm scale. Based on the scale, the tablet is about 4-5cm wide and 3-4cm tall. In the bottom left corner of the image is a tiny winged creature thumbnail, and along the left side are the letters and numbers "GCBC 766 (YPM BC 034383)"
Today, I've been reading a very old medical commentary from ancient Uruk, written in the Akkadian language.
It's a tiny cuneiform tablet that explains words and phrases excerpted from another text - a diagnostic manual, known in antiquity as Sa-gig.

Sakura Reflections: The Mirror of Spring
This atmospheric photograph by the artist known as @wasabitool captures a stunning moment of symmetry during Japan’s cherry blossom season. The composition is divided horizontally by a large puddle on a gravel path, which acts as a natural mirror, reflecting the vibrant pink canopy of a blooming cherry tree and the traditional architecture of a nearby temple or shrine. The low-angle perspective emphasizes the clarity of the reflection, where the soft, pastel tones of the blossoms contrast with the dark, weathered wood and grey-tiled roofs of the historic buildings.
The image evokes a sense of quietude and the traditional Japanese appreciation for mizukagami (water mirrors), a concept often explored in both classical poetry and contemporary photography. The fallen petals scattered on the surface of the water add a layer of texture, serving as a reminder of the fleeting nature of the bloom. This visual harmony between the man-made structures and the surrounding natural world is a hallmark of Japanese aesthetics, where historic sites are intentionally designed to be experienced in tandem with the changing seasons.

The Relationship Between Handwriting Style and Speed and Legibility
The relationship between handwriting style and handwriting speed and legibility was investigated. Three samples of writing (narrative, expository, and copying) were collected from 600 students in...
Because I am that sort of person, I actually went hunting for proof that cursive is faster than print, as so many of us were taught.
LIES
People who write mixed cursive-print are fastest, and, depending on which study you check… *drumroll please*
