After the summer transfer activity, barring GK this is probably the 11 they had in mind for the biggest game of this season!

I assume that Carragher’s goal was in our own net 😜

Really impressed by @johngibbons.bsky.social today. At a time when everyone feels at a crossroads with the club, his clarity on the dynamic between players and fans is exactly what’s needed. I seriously hope the club is listening.

There’s the club’s WSL team and associated development squads that hasn’t been given the diligence needed. We’ve always had a 2nd club, just neglected it. There is now the headcount with spare capacity.

Aye, more ball in hand stuff, less kicking from hand and better officiating at scrums, plus lower tolerance for yellows made for a great tournament

I get the points, and summer work pointed multi transfer window: But the role of those responsible is the net sum.
Macca: definitely and sad
Konate: issue spotted = Guehi. But didn’t get it done
Ali: replacement found but not played in cup games
Salah: they still gave him a big contract

I think one of the biggest mis calculations about this season is the drop off of some established names: Mo, Macca, Ali, Konate. A sizeable percentage given squad size. In short the squad just isn’t as good as they judged. Age/ time are things.

He and Mo leave so much space for others to cover

Chiesa, goes. So maybe no net increase just overall improvement in quality and options. If Konate leaves then I’d like Gomez to stay. If Gomez leaves then a versatile defender capable at CB and FB.
Home grown players is something we need to work on.

LFC Squad Revamp:
Wing: Net +1 (Mo/Gakpo out, need depth)
Mid: Net 0 (Endo/Macca upgrades)
Def: Net 0 (Robbo/Konaté replacements)
Goal: Restore width. We’re too narrow—Slot’s DNA needs wide outlets to thrive

Difference between the 1st and 2nd half was the physical battle in midfield. Difference between winning and loosing today was genuine attacking threat on the wings.

Lovely cameo by Rio.

Why are we surprised they’re leggy. We always were under Klopp. Rhythm is a thing at the highest level. The rest only makes a difference in 2-3 week

And Mo looking more like his old self

Now the assist!

We rarely appreciate the physiological cost of victory — or near victory.
What troubles me most is what comes next: the expectation. The unfashionable refrain of “one game at a time” may be dull, but it’s often the bedrock of real achievement.

Definitely. Knowing when to quit when ahead is just one of life’s harder things.

Maybe the squad just isn’t as good as we all believe it is.
Ali, VVD, Salah, and Macca are not the players they were. Why is debatable but 3 are at a point where the trend is irreversible.
The new players are making fewer mistakes that lead to goals.
Why is the void social media fills.

That’s the story of this season — one brain-fart and it just snowballs into another. Once it starts, it feels unstoppable.

I thought after Ali’s walkabout at the start of the 2nd half I thought we were starting to get the right side of luck. Sadly I was wrong.

Problem is who replaces them. Alisson has also dropped from his outstanding level.

Amongst many things this season one of the less versed is how our established world class players just aren’t anymore.

I guess it comes down to whether the rumours that Alonso was the club’s preferred choice before we approached Slot are true, and if we are Alonso’s preferred choice for him next. Then it may only be a few more defeats.

Were the architects of our own defeat since we scored

It’s brainless by Alisson. He didn’t need to come out like that and force the ref to make a decision

2 months ago 0 0 1 0

I suspect the opposite. This in the top 10 most expensive signings in our history. That signals he’s a starter. CB unlike a FWD starts, and is less likely to get minutes from the bench.

My guess is Konate’s leaving. We don’t pay that money and develop on the bench

In my opinion Ramsey is League 1 standard, and ceiling is Championship. Nyoni now is Championship standard but Premiership ceiling.
Endo just isn’t a RB option, however willing.
Jones start at RB, who can invert, with midfield option of Nyoni as sub. And/or Ramsey closes 20min, but not start.

He’s not there either in mind or body if not both.
Add the decline of Salah, Alission, and VVD and that’s a sizeable drop in the overall quality in the squad.

Agree. It’s very likely Slot doesn’t survive, he’s obviously a very talented manager, maybe it’s Slot’s plan, we just don’t know. But from all accounts Edwards is a robust character. As you say the CEO has to sign off the plan and should have done the necessary diligence it’ll work.

Probably the plan was to sub him between 60-80min, but already had used 1 sub slot and wanted more flexibility in 2nd half depending on game state when to use remaining 2 sub windows. Seems reasonable decision in circumstance
