The CSA in Canada put forth a recommendation that respirators be used in healthcare to prevent COVID and other airborne diseases.
It’s a recommendation that would save lives.
Yet managers of hospital infection control programs are fighting back on it.
Disgusting.

As I’ve said many times: the issue of airborne transmission and respiratory infection in healthcare isn’t a controversy. It’s a scandal.
This list—predominantly managers of hospital infection control programs—are undermining revisions to a Canadian standard for workplace respirator personal protective equipment (PPE) that would improve safety grounded in science and engineering. /1

🎯 running water through a Brita pitcher-filter isn't as good as reverse osmosis, so I guess we will just give the kids water from the creek
I'm fed up with hearing Government responses saying that air filters are no substitute for ventilation whilst providing neither good ventilation nor air filters to school classrooms.
I say in reply:
Lies are no substitute for the truth.
Ineptitude is no substitute for knowledge.
What's also true is that if this happens again, the same mistakes will be made.
They're still not honest about airborne transmission.
They're still not prepared for an airborne pandemic.
Also true is that we are still in the Covid airborne pandemic because of these failings.

A lot of news from Covid inquiry blaming lockdown for people not being able to see relatives in care settings.
The truth is; airborne transmission was covered up & Gov't hadn't properly prepared for an airborne pandemic.
People could have done this entirely safely with the right mitigations.

He's busy counting his money and doesn't care who he hurts in the process obviously. Any reasonable person would hold their hands up to a big mistake, apologize profusely and work hard to make amends.
This Keith dude isn't reasonable - he's a grifter.
@keithedwards.bsky.social hey Keith… I’m the person who’s post you put on X in an attempt to dunk on maskers & Bluesky.
I wanted to let you know I make no money for my advocacy. I’ve been talking about mask bans for well over a year in an attempt to save lives.
My post was 100% genuine.
I have to be honest and say that I don't hold such small products in very high esteem. The best device for this application in my opinion is the Air Fanta 4lite but is is a good bit bigger/heavier - but it also has a much greater chance of being effective.

Poor air quality is an invisible workplace hazard.
Let’s stop pretending it’s not there.

UK friends, there's a petition that I'd really like to see supported so that it gets discussed in Parliament.
It demands better air quality & PPE standards in health & social care.
It would help every one of us but needs more signatures before May 11th.

I wouldn't think the risk is very significant but leave air filters running constantly in case of any re-aerosolization of particles.
In these circumstances I use a UV-C disinfection lamp. See link. Only use when space is unoccupied. Warnings built into this device.

COVID-conscious people don't think that they've abandoned science; they’ve come to think that science has abandoned them. @engber.bsky.social reports:
Still not wrong, just early.
Ignoring Covid infections is a giant mistake.
We should be preventing them.
Long Covid is very real & very serious and still a significant risk to all.
The pandemic is continuing whether you ignore it or not.
It's not lockdowns; it's infections.
FAFO.
We need more stuff like this and so thanks to all involved and to those reading on, please share, look at the details and try to persuade your own local authorities to copy and build upon this great work.
We need clean air in all public spaces.
Everyone will benefit.
