The blog's been updated with some thoughts from Reeve on the unique roster building challenges of this season, and from Miles on how she (and her cat, Bean) are adjusting to Minnesota.

Major portal addition for Gophers WBB: 6-6 Penn State junior Gracie Merkle, avg. 19.2 ppg, 8.2 rpg, 1.1 bpg this year. Gophers needed a post player, and they got one who shot 72.5% (!) from the floor this year.

Two former Hopkins standouts, Nia Coffey and Amaya Battle, at Lynx training camp.
Battle (c/o '22): "I can't believe we made it here at the same time."
Coffey (c/o '13): "I remember babysitting her, we'd be playing basketball, I didn't think it would turn into an opportunity like this."
Also for context haha, McBride had a head start re: counting shots at the practice facility, she’s been in Minnesota training for a bit. Still impressive though!
Can you tell who has been here in Minnesota working out for the past month
First day of training camp 🏀
I, personally, would love to have something like that — logistics can take a bit of time to sort out on the front end, so nothing imminent in the super short term, but def something I’m thinking about!
Nat’s back!
Natalie Buchbinder has been activated from LTIR. In a corresponding move, defender Madison Bizal has been placed on our Reserve Player list.

21 players in that crew, 12 who would be rookies this year. Last year, the Lynx had 20 training camp invitees, 7 rookies, when that official 2025 TC roster went out.
Sorry, meant to add that an asterisk indicates late arrivals
Full Lynx training camp roster, per the team. A few late arrivals from playing overseas:

It’s a double push alert kinda night in the Minnesota women’s sports world
Wow, missed that with the Phee news + Gophers gymnastics! Busy night, sheesh!
Gophers gymnastics finished second in its semi, advances to the NCAA Final Four for the first time, set for Saturday. 🏆 I believe they'll be the first team seeded lower than 10 to compete for a national title? Brooklyn Rowray wins an individual national title on beam!
Gophers WBB gets its first commit out of the portal: 5-6 UCF point guard Leah Harmon. Avg 15.7 ppg (37% from 3), 2.4 apg, 2.2 rpg as a sophomore.
Per the Buffs, Colorado’s 6-3 forward Jade Masogayo will join Lynx training camp:

With three games left, the Frost are 8 pts behind Boston, 13 ahead of 4th place Ottawa. Pretty solidly in third, with 6th, 8th, 7th place to finish out the season. Montreal and Boston play next, one pt apart, could determine top seed in playoffs.
3rd place Frost fall 3-2 in Boston, their last chance to take points from a team ahead of the in the #PWHL standings. Cooper scores in the third, Curl-Salemme gets one after pulling the goalie late.

on deck!
Some #PWHL Frost personnel moves as defender Natalie Buchbinder ends up on LTIR.
Been excited to be the keynote speaker at the St. Paul Athena Awards since I was asked last December, but I could not see the future and that it would be the *exact* same time as Olivia Miles’ first Lynx presser today — @emleiker.bsky.social has the Strib dispatch from there 🤝 then I’m back at it!
