my old college stomping grounds... utterly heartbroken

Is anybody getting any actual value on this platform?
The biggest culture shock when returning from EU — besides our generally tasteless lack of casual fashion — is our poor quality food. Doesn’t matter if you buy from the most expensive “farm to table” local markets here in CA; bread, fruits, milk, etc all pale in comparison and are vastly more $.
How does SFO get away with charging $9 for a luggage trolley when most airports are free, or perhaps a nominal fee of $1 / 1€.
Why WHY are Swiss and German buildings especially kept so, SO hot inside during the winter? If nothing else, isn’t it just super energy inefficient?
Welp, it’s 2025!
Make a difference.
The difference between how most Europeans dress when traveling by airplane vs how Americans dress is… wow. Just… wow.
And before anybody scolds me about the right and desire to be casual, there’s a difference between casual elegant and casual sloppy.
Now this is graffiti / street art / whatever you want to call it that I can get behind.
Is #London the finest city on Earth? Wrong answers only.
The ubiquity and magnitude of #Christmas decorations in #London is absolutely beautiful. Such a shame that so many American cities, #SanFrancisco especially, no longer enjoy the joy and spectacle of this lovely time.
#SFO international terminal is essentially devoid of any Christmas decoration. Pretty sure #LHR will be overflowing with decor. Why the difference?
When will #Waymo come to #MarinCounty
Eight years ago, I knew just one person who voted for Trump.
Four years ago, likewise, nearly everyone I knew voted for Biden.
This time around, I know quite a few Biden/Bernie supporters who switched to Trump.
And these are really educated, successful people whom I respect a lot.
Fascinating.
Is there any more joyfully — and awesomely — tearful music than Die Zauberflöte? Trick question: the answer is no.
So it’s been 21 days since my first post / tweet / whatever here on Bluesky.
First thoughts are it’s a pleasant, if echo-chamber-y place.
Unfortunately however I got much more engagement on Twitter/X, where I also had many more followers.
Also, on iOS at least emoji don’t autocomplete 🤔
#Tesla is offering 0% APR on Model 3 and Model Y. And when you use my referral link, you can get up to $2,000 off as well ts.la/marc55215

The responses here seem high; we didn’t have that kind of money when I grew up. While I can’t remember what our first XT or subsequent 286 cost, I vaguely remember our 486/33 was around $3K; or perhaps that was our Pentium-133 in the 1990s? I don’t remember my dad spending more than $3K-$5K on a PC.
I have a foreboding of an America in my children’s or grandchildren’s time — when the United States is a service and information economy; when nearly all the key manufacturing industries have slipped away to other countries; when awesome technological powers are in the hands of a very few…
and no one representing the public interest can even grasp the issues; when the people have lost the ability to set their own agendas or knowledgeably question those in authority; when, clutching our crystals and nervously consulting our horoscopes, our critical faculties in decline, unable to distinguish between what feels good and what’s true…
we slide, almost without noticing, back into superstition and darkness. The dumbing down of American is most evident in the slow decay of substantive content in the enormously influential media, the 30 second sound bites (now down to 10 seconds or less), lowest common denominator programming, credulous presentations on pseudoscience and superstition…
… but especially a kind of celebration of ignorance. -carl sagan
man, Carl Sagan really had our number.
People talk about #rainy days in #SF like it’s a cataclysmic disaster. Photographers’ ominous shots and captions read like it’s end of days stuff 🤣
Kate takes shelter from the storm.
Sand bags pile up (15 small bags)
Pedestrians brave the rain.
Meanwhile, in Amsterdam… literally NBD ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Well that’s something you don’t see everyday in the SF Bay Area.
Achievement Unlocked: Biked in the Rain.
Dutch Mode Active! Rain jackets on for our first time biking to school in the rain! So much fun for an otherwise typical ride! A few lessons learned for cold, windy rain: (1) gloves would be nice for longer rides; (2) rain pants needed too. #biking #fietser
I made an AI Law and Policy Starter Pack

This is just a start - please write to be included.
Thanks Professor! You beat me to it!
Serious question, does the SF Ferry Building have no HVAC of any kind? During this summer’s heat waves (90+F) it was a furnace inside — ok I get it, most places don’t have AC here — but it’s 55F outside right now and about the same temp inside; people wearing heavy jackets. So un-cozy. #hygge much?
Who’s ready for a cool (global) #AI thing? Hit me up.
People of San Francisco. A bit of wind and rain isn’t a “storm.” Anywhere else on the planet it’s literally just “raining.” As you were.
#FlightSim2024 time 🛫
Ok let’s see how involved this platform really is:
Within 5 years, #lawyers will be liable for malpractice if they’re not incorporating #AI into their workflow.
By about 2035, human-only legal work will basically be obsolete, with full AI lawyers being regulation-limited, not tech-limited.
