Britain pays wind farms to turn off when it’s windy and overpays gas plants to switch on instead. It'll cost bill payers up to £8b/yr by 2030. Zonal energy pricing would slash this.

Over the past week, wind power has produced 40% of the UK's electricity supply, Double the output of gas (which remains a versatile backup source) and almost four times that of nuclear (a steady ~4.5 GW) without emitting a single gram of carbon.
My most expensive (but also relatively high consumption) month on #OctopusAgile yet - but it's *still cheaper* than the same consumption on a price capped tariff, based on the average unit rate 🤯🐙👌
@octopus.energy is a truly disruptive force for good.
But please get those at standing charges fixed
