Quality Takes Time

Clay app screenshot showing training results, currently on epoch 4/100. Trend lines for model performance are slowly rising. Training losses appear to be trending down.
Warming up the processors today.
Continued active learning via semi supervised training. Excited to see the next results in a couple hours. #computervision #golf

TIL. Thanks @notpodium.bsky.social!

Just got home from @deepdishswift.com, can't thank @joshdholtz.com and Kari enough. Thank you!
A great conference with excellent folks. Got the opportunity to talk about building apps for customers before you ship to the App Store.
Had tons of fun chatting with folks today @deepdishswift.com

@deepdishswift.com time!
Didn't have "create a sync, auth, and db solution for ML projects" in my bingo card but it was becoming a time suck NOT to do it.
Beyond getting strings correct in localizing, the most difficult part is (was) collecting screenshots.
Continued fun adding bits and bobs to my testing skill.

Also added some nifty instruments tricks I've found to make apps faster/more responsive.
Screenshot of Mac app showing two machines online. Both machines have their core numbers and ram listed.
Not perfect by any means but got iCloud syncing of jobs (Potter tasks), machine state, and moving tasks around to load balance between multiple computers.
It's a tough problem set. Typically I'm eating at new places solo, frequent places with the same folks, rarely having to consider allergies but all three are valuable search start points.
Big thing I dislike about Apple Maps is context.
I just searched for "Indian cuisine" in my local area. 4/7 spots were not open right now, rest were open. I had to click into each to find out if I can get food now.
IDK what the correct solution is (maybe I'm looking for a place open tomorrow)
If I'm in a place I know/been to, I'm looking at hours. Maybe menu.
If I'm new to a place I'm looking for places that are open, have what I'm looking for food (style/price/vibe) or an event (more rare)
I'm not a "social media" person, so I don't connect with locations like that.
Photos 10/10 times. Want to understand vibe, but also for food, what's on their menu leads it all. This is assuming we are talking about a city/area I haven't been before.
Apple Maps
Those #WWDC emails are coming out. In my case it was a “we regret” result.
Bummer.
I’ll be there in person regardless. Excited to see folks and attend lots of events.
Refreshing my email a lot today.....
Yea, I'm *only* consuming content when doing something with my hands that wouldn't distract me. i.e. dishes, gardening
Sounds like a great time 😃
IDK the full list of things you're supporting, but we should chat IRL about some of the fun I did to get locations. [It wasn't fun]
Collection of images in a grid that are multiple colors of blobs.
After launching @dewygolf.bsky.social I think I'll open up a "Glitch Gallery" where I can showcase all my error art.
Something really cool is happening in Nashville this fall. You could be part of the lineup! Today is the LAST day to apply to speak!!
All my "consumption" of content is either physical technical books or audio (podcasts or books).
Even before AI, it was rare I was reading start to end anything. Typically it's for a question, skimming what someone did and get out.
Even more wild when looking at a course I think is aggressively varied.
Satellite imagery of a golf course, showing direction of slope and grade of slope.
Direction of slope is key when you're considering hits, but also frost/dew/moisture impact.
Been playing with combining a couple of variables to make heat maps of slope intensity and direction to better power maps in @dewygolf.bsky.social
I have enough background to be dangerous. Enough sense to know I still have lots to learn.
I’ve submitted a couple talks surrounding CV/Swift so we shall see if they pan out.
Satellite imagery with RGB map, but also overlayed with pixelated NDVI data.
Met with a remote sensing engineer this week that maps wildfires and fire risk. Got some great tips how to augment my CV pipeline with standard RGB, but then also add NDVI and other band data that might help.
Want to hear the fans on a MBP? Kick off two CV training pipelines at once.
Dropped 80% battery in 45 minutes.
Gee, you're gonna love my talk @ DDS. 😅
