The most basic fundamentals of cognitive processing.

Humans observe events, narrate stories to explain them, and assign emotions to those stories.

This helps illustrate how influencers can emotionally manipulate outcomes with biased or false narratives around events.

Now, you might say, "What about all the knowledge we'd lose if we push all the abusive geniuses out of academia?!"

But I'd counter and say, "Well, what about the knowledge we've already lost from the budding scholars whose careers they've derailed with their abuse?"

AI-generated explicit photos are flooding schools. Not much is being done to stem the tide. - The Boston Globe For as little as $4.99, teenagers are uploading photos of their classmates’ faces to “nudify” sites to generate so-called deepfake pornographic pictures of them in an instant.

We are not talking about this enough.

And the fact that AI is being pushed on us without a parallel conversation about how we protect girls and women from AI driven sexual violence is a huge problem.

It’s also misogyny.

Anti-Trans bigotry is such a strong force because Trans people represent a movement towards bodily autonomy that would violate everything the fascists hold dear. The fascists don't want anyone to get to make choices about their bodies. Trans healthcare is a slap in the face to patriarchal control.

Even the Commonwealth Bank CEO backs a 25% tax on gas exports!

I hadn't seen this before. This is pretty remarkable.

This is the point of the whole fucking campaign not a side effect, transphobes think (correctly as it turns out) that by driving trans people from public life they can tear apart and destroy the entire organizational and social apparatus of the feminist left

Moreover, ICE must be destroyed

Liberals dump Moira Deeming from ticket for next state election Controversial Victorian MP Moira Deeming has lost her preselection battle for the state election, with Liberal Party members replacing her with business leader Dinesh Gourisetty.

Remember when Moira Deeming sued her party's leader into bankruptcy, and then offered to delay the proceedings if the Libs guaranteed her preselection?

Can't imagine why they didn't want to keep her around.

Again this demand that gender be determined not at birth or by self definition or cultural upbringing but by genetic testing is a major and radical demand for a new standard never, ever practiced by any culture in the history of the planet Earth.

The pro-coal propaganda in Australia is always so fucking cringe. Anyone remember the 'its amazing what this little rock can do!' ads being played in cinemas?

Anyway they're clearly scared that people want them to pay more tax. Which we do! And their ads won't stop that!

During an ad break on my podcast, I got to listen to how much tax the coal industry paid last year.

Cool story, pay more tho?

it's incredible that as long as you do the right amount of bigotry you can just rob the country blind and enough people will not care, even though those same people will be filled with incandescent rage if someone uses food stamps to buy a 12 pack of diet coke

LGBTIQ+ Groups welcome passing of Gender Reassignment Board ban in WA  - Equality Australia WA and national LGBTIQA+ groups have welcomed the passing last night of a Bill abolishing the WA Gender Reassignment Board.

It's a very bad idea. In case it's helpful, West Australia had a 'Gender Reassignment Board' which sounds similar. It was finally abolished last year, so maybe the arguments that were used in the lead up could be helpful?

Fossil fuel subsidies are growing faster than spending on the NDIS.

@rodcampbell.bsky.social says it’s time to call out the idea that governments can’t afford to support Australians in need, yet can dish out $31,020 per minute on climate-destroying subsidies. #auspol

Okay my understanding is that this happened when the service was run by Medibank. It has not happened under Telstra.

If the NDIS is ‘runaway spending’, what do we call $16 billion in fossil fuel subsidies? New research shows fossil fuel subsidies will reach $16.3 billion in 2025–26, rising faster than the NDIS. Handouts to mining giants are growing faster than support for Australians with disability.
