Space Force is an incredibly unserious waste of taxpayer money. And that’s coming from a sci-fi author.
A dozen or more transgender members of the U.S. Air Force who had sought early retirement to avoid being discharged for their gender identity have had those retirements canceled. Each has served between 15 and 18 years.
Here’s your regular reminder that if you support fascist states of any kind, especially those supporting and exacting genocide, I’m not your buddy.
Today is the 80th anniversary of the bombing of Hiroshima, Japan.
The dropping of the atomic bomb onto a civilian target is the greatest single wartime atrocity any country has ever committed. And the USA did it twice.
“Aren’t you worried about how you’ll look with all your tattoos when you’re 80?”
Yeah, I’m deeply worried I’ll look way too fucking cool for my age.
Festoon: adorn (a place) with ribbons, garlands, or other decorations.
Example: She festooned the walls of her ramshackle hut with the bones and entrails of her enemies.
This has been another episode of Sean’s Word Corner.
Contranyms are absolutely diabolical.
What do you mean “literally” can mean both “in a literal sense” and also “in a non-literal sense”?! 😵💫
And don’t get me started on “nonplussed.”
In Godzilla we trust.
Basic human decency and empathy shouldn’t be considered radical*
*Unless you mean it in the Bart Simpson or Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle sense, in which case it is totally radical
Gnat is actually short for Gnatalie.
Fly is short for Flydrique.
Moth is short for Motthew
And Bee is short for Abeegail.
People think Ant is short for Anthony, and sometimes it is. But it’s also short for Antoinette.
Did anyone else hear about the government research experiment where they were feeding cannabis to beef cattle? Apparently, they had to cancel the entire project.
The steaks were just too high.
Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein should be required reading for anyone even remotely interested in science fiction. We wouldn’t have the modern sci-fi genre without this book or, more importantly, its female author.
Just got a 4-Star review that said “Dreamweavers, LLC is one of the strangest books I’ve read this year.”
So… mission accomplished.
I’ve been playing video games for over 35 years.
I do a lot of weightlifting.
I have over 25 tattoos, including a full sleeve and another I’m working on.
My favorite kind of food is Mexican.
I’m vegan (I get plenty of protein).
I used to build guitars and before that I worked in craft beer.

@seanmtirman.bsky.social - With his breakout debut novel, Hounds of Gaia, Sean established himself as an excellent horror and scifi (cyberpunk) author. But it doesn't stop there, with his latest release, Dreamweavers LLC, he shows his ability to mix humor with the mythological & psychedelic.

I just want to take a moment to say thank you to everyone who bought HoG over the last few days (and the days to come).
I know buying a book for less than a dollar seems like no big deal on an individual level, but it translates to hundreds of new readers in possession of my work. It’s incredible🙏
Update: my first book is now the 3rd bestselling cyberpunk book, the 6th bestselling space opera, and the 10th bestselling dystopian science fiction book.
I’m blasting off! (Seriously, this is so cool, even if it’s HIGHLY fleeting) #scifi
How long it takes for a human body to carbonize in the vacuum of space.
It was not at all important to the book’s overall plot—it was for a single line 😅
Okay okay I’m finally FINALLY getting back to work on Marrower book 2 (the Hounds of Gaia sequel).
Having to reread what I’ve already written is a lot like what I imagine torture to be like, but also I forgot how immediately brutal (and hopefully exciting) this one is…
Back to the grind. #books
You have got to be so morally bankrupt to look at people at their lowest — having abandoned or lost (or both) everything they’ve ever known — and think them somehow monstrous, evil, and deserving of suffering.
I hope to never know that feeling.
“Not all Americans,” we plead as bombers blitz across the sky.
Enough of us, though. Enough of us.
If you’re gonna punch someone in the face as hard as you can, make sure you tell everyone you only did it because they were definitely considering hitting you first and that if they hit you back, that wouldn’t be in the spirit of making peace.
(This ain’t about punching people in the face)
Seems pretty absurd to be trying to promote an upcoming book with *gesures at everything* all this
A lot of artists are already doing exactly that. It’s one of the sturdier ways to prove they’re not just punching a sentence or two into a GenAI program.
I suspect including progress reports/images/videos will become more standard going forward.
Three weeks until my next novel drops—but you can preorder it now! #fantasybook
