And while the kid wrote a manifesto and we now know was heavily involved in incel communities online, as well as anti-Semitic communities, from interviews with his classmates, it sounds like no one really expected this from him. So...

Ultimately, he just didn't need access to a gun.

I just wanna scream "It doesn't matter what we do so long as guns are easy to access..." The district just got a multi-million dollar grant to implement electronic weapon detection and that STOPPED NOTHING.

Three SROs employed at that school. STOPPED NOTHING.

I'm tired of schools becoming the punching bag for all of society's failures. It is exhausting. People think of schools as these non-feeling containers when they're made up of people who care a lot and work hard.

It's just really hard to see the complaints directed at us and not leaders.

I think, though, this time around I'm more frustrated by the calls for metal detectors. The demands that schools institute very prison-like procedures. All because our local, state and federal government categorically refuse gun laws.

At no point was that school villainized. They were rightfully praised for their quick action and the staff who lost their lives memorialized for their sacrifice.

This school is predominantly Black and Hispanic. So.. I think we see why there's a difference.

Thought this hasn't gotten much national attention, it is obviously all over local news. There's been villainization of the school itself and our district.

Interestingly, a school shooting in this city two years ago got a lot of attention. It was a white Christian school.

There was a school shooting very close to home (literally and figuratively) yesterday. Haven't seen it really blow up in national news which is a testament to how desensitized we are. Two students dead, one in critical condition.

That makes a TON of sense. I like the way succinct containment refers to all of those things. I might have to start teaching my staff and families about that.

We all know it's one thing to be diagnosed and a whole other thing to manage it. Very important.
