2009 Convex/Takara collab Cyborg 1 vinyl Kuns. The back of the packaging has illustrations of some of the suits the original Cyborg 1 had available Fishman, Eagleman and Beetleman as Kun designs. Also pictured a Kun Walder and his Kaijinn drip. Never seen the toys of them. Were they even produced?

Kubrick made a Tank and Recognizer. There were 4 sets. A, B, C & D. Set B had the Tank, Flynn and a red Lightcycle and set C a Guard with the Recognizer and a yellow cycle. Set A was Tron and Yori with an orange cycle and D had Sark with the MCP and a blue cycle. Still have them around somewhere…

This concept art shows some of the attachments were planned to be articulated! But by this point #takara we’re pivoting to the concept of a smaller 3¾ action figure with smaller, more interchangeable vehicles and play sets. And #microman would be the next phase in the evolution of their toyline.

The #takara Invaders also had their own ship, the ‘UFO-7’. It was repackaged in the UK by #denysfisher for their 8” Cyborg toy line and renamed to ‘Cybo-invader’ (presumably to get around having to replace the decals). It had a removable flying seat and of course, an array of spring loaded missiles!

The Invaders also had accessory sets that sold separately. As far as i’m aware #takara only produced 2 different accessory packs despite there being 3 Invaders. I managed to pick up a couple of complete loose sets in auction for a fairly reasonable price at the time:

2006 Kotobukiya One Coin ‘Cain’ from Robocop 2. Always liked this design and this figure has some nice detail despite being ~3in tall.

Denys Fisher Muton brain and guts cast in clear green resin. Sent to me by UK collector Hypnotator. I painted a few details opaque to resemble the coloured parts of the originals but wanted to preserve the translucency. Fitted into a repro Shonen Cyborg body with a clear Walder Jr head.

#takara Androids. This figure came in 3 flavors: Android A, Chojin (Superman) A and Robot A. The #denysfisher Android is a scaled down version of Android A but has the Super A head. The arm and leg accessories were taken from Robot A and strangely the chest mecha of Robot A was repurposed as a head!
