"I won't let ChatGPT claim ownership over the em dash!!"
Why? The em dash is a crutch, and was already a mark of laziness in sentence structure. Let AI have it! Imagine if AI had also used painfully too many adverbs, or dialogue tags, or overused the passive voice. Take it all away!

Nothing in this world like staring at a bigass hardcover campaign book and going "We're gonna tackle that."
Sometimes I’ll end up with a giant lore-sized hole in my game and a game like Microscope is always a good thing for the group to pivot to.
My players discovered a key faction in a 5e game once who had this giant history I hadn’t created yet, so we used Kingdom to make it together. Sublime.
I use Canva as a VTT, and I love dropping just images from the boards that everyone makes together throughout a session. This is from a one-shot someone ran today when our main game cancelled as minute.
If we’re totally ignoring the history of D&D editions in Stranger Things… Will Byers is not a “Sorcerer.” He derived his powers by siphoning off of a patron, Vecna. Will Byers is a WARLOCK for Christ’s sake.
I've abandoned all VTTs to just play online TTRPGs using big, free, infinite Canva whiteboards. They're just the coolest way to throw whatever images, graphics, etc you need, let players muck around and customize, etc.
I highly recommend it!

So fucking sick
We all want indie creators to do as-well or better from the big corporate houses. Why tf are disparaging good strategy?
A lot of the anti-crowdfunding-month takes come down to some variety of “I am annoyed” or “I am getting FOMO” or “I feel marketed to.” All the while, indie creators are gathering around likeminded projects and making bank. You’d rather this not be happening?
A lot of the discourse around how “themed crowdfunding months” like Mothership/Mausritter months are Somehow Bad seems to ignore the fact that they all seem to be very successful and meet both the goals of funding related projects and renewing interest in aging games.
“idk it’s too much sugar man.” all i hear is that you have nothing to offer me. You prefer the simulacrum to the real. Depart, I never knew you.
Y’all are here to meet other gamers, get books signed. I’m here for Wild Bills Sodas. That’s it. I’m a freak for this stuff. At some cons I line up at Wild Bills before I line up for my badge.
I think there is a huge swathe of the hobby for whom “2d6 vs 1d12” is about as much variety in innovation they’ve exposed themselves to, and have come to the enlightened position that all roads are the same inside that tiny bubble.
Sure doesn’t.
What incursion did you use??
This reminds me of discourse that’s like, the discourse of: you don’t have a fan fiction character’s consent to give them romantic desires they didn’t have in source material.
Brad Kerr once described the problem here in “Souls-like TTRPG” discourse as the fact that Elden Ring has more in common with Tony Hawk Pro Skater than anything resembling an RPG.
I am shocked that this is still a design goal for some folks!
We’re going to have to beat this drum for years and years and years until, like “D&D 4e is a perfectly good game,” it becomes something we’ve all pretended to believe since the beginning.
This looks mad fucking good
Let’s gooo bsky.app/profile/jack...
Folks in Seth’s comments are saying “but what about inflation?”
How much do people think they HAVE to spend on TTRPGs to play them exactly?
Ah yeah, as someone who spent years wearing myself out on gridded combat (and ran MB recently) I thought it was good guidance.
It’s really hard trying to translate ideas from other styles!
Oh totally! One of the best reasons to object to ItO-style games is being a Crunch Tactical Combat Guy. It’s just a whole different school of thought!
It just feels good seeing someone admit that players like rolling dice, a take way more controversial in the dice game hobby than it should be.
Which part drives you nuts I’m curious
Jealous for Gen Con attendees primarily for access to Wild Bill's Sodas on tap.
Speaking as one of those suckers who paid like $80 for a tin cup, I can't imagine a greater consolation for the life of a conventional goer than that sweet sticky bullshit.
