Reforming the General Medical Council legislative framework Seeks views on the draft General Medical Council Order 2026.

Not sure if this is widely known about and I have missed it, but here's a link anyway:

"..seeks views on the draft General Medical Council Order 2026, which would reform how the (GMC) regulates medical practitioners, physician associates and anaesthesia associates.."

Extremely disappointing to see @rthonwesstreeting.bsky.social retweeting & endorsing the below without any commentary on WHY overseas trained doctors are 2.5 times more likely to get referred to the GMC. He's clearly uninformed about the GMC's own research into the huge role played by racism.

A culture that tolerates and elevates pseudoscience will be at odds with the health of its citizens.

It doesn't matter if they are ever coming for you.

It was always ever already too much that they were coming for anyone.

How will expansion of physician associates affect patient safety? Experience with nursing assistants calls for extreme caution, write Rachel Greenley and Martin McKee Too often what seems like a good idea turns out not to be. The NHS is facing a staffing crisis. It...

9/11 And while some may argue, we have a workforce crisis and need more people, experience with nursing associates shows that adding less qualified people can make things more dangerous www.bmj.com/content/386/...

It's hard to make sense of all the multiple discourses about the NHS. I find myself sceptical a lot of the time- there's so much promotion of vested interests. The people I trust are those who step back & consider diverse forms of evidence, & who are committed to an inclusive, participatory process.

An unrushed conversation that enables us to hear each other & let our thinking unfold- if this was a medicine it'd be sold as a breakthrough!

But it's just a basic human way of being- that enables understanding, dignity, & inclusion. And our fast paced 'efficient' environment constantly stifles it.

Time & time again I see the negative impact of forcing things - forcing people - when they're not ready. And in contrast, I see the ease of giving things time to unfold naturally.

When are we gonna see how the relentless pressure on pace, & packing our schedules, is making us miserable & stressed?

We make 35,000 decisions every single day ‼️

After Steve died, I was shattered and all that thinky time made my brain want to explode 🤯

For anyone grieving, try to create routines and habits that give your mind a break for a moment 💛

We do what we can, with the circumstances we are given. And it is enough.

Focusing too narrowly on NHS productivity only adds to a sense of slog & like being worked into the ground is our goal.

But supporting creativity, learning, trying new ways, even just having time to think or catch up with a colleague- these all matter in creating conditions for decent patient care.

Research shows for employees, “feeling respected” is 17.9 X more powerful a predictor of an organisation’s culture score than the average factor (& 2 X as strong as the 2nd most important factor, supportive leadership). Advice for leaders:

What an absolutely brave, sincere, and compassionate message directly to Trump. Thank you to Bishop Mariann Edgar Budde www.youtube.com/watch?v=mI4h...

More bravery shown by Bishop Budde to hold Trump to account in under 3 minutes than by most of the media, most politicians from US and around the world and by the elite in years

I want to remind Londoners that our city is—and always will be—a place for everyone.

We’ll continue to celebrate London as the diverse, open and welcoming city it is.

This example couldn’t illustrate more effectively the costly, inefficient madness of swapping triage by highly trained & skilled GPs with a whole cacophony of unnecessary scans, radiation, appointments & bureaucracy.

If this is really Labour’s vision of the future NHS, it’s wildly misguided.

Take some time to get away from the world and all its demands on you!

I learned long ago it’s ok to be ok with where you are right now!

The world is full of “be better” “do better” “strive for more” “make it better”

It’s a journey and you need to fill your tank with selflove and being ok ❤️
