Green circle commemorating International Atheist Day, celebrated annually on March 23.

Happy International Atheist Day! While I am technically an agnostic atheist, my worldview embraces humanism and focuses on what I DO believe in. Do something to help others today! #InternationalAtheistDay #Humanism #AmericanHumanistAssociation #HumanistCanada #BAHACon

A really sad follow-up to this story — Alexis Erlinmeyer, one of the trans federal intelligence workers who was fired, has died of a pulmonary embolism. She was 31. Her family is burying her under her deadname, so friends are fundraising for an accurate memorial: www.gofundme.com/f/in-memory-...

Hardcover book titled Useless Etymology by author Jess Zafarris.

Christmas came slightly late with this one, but today’s a great day to stay out of the snowstorm and read in front of the fireplace. #JessZafarris #UselessEtymology #WordsUnravelled

Atheists aren't fighting a "war on Christmas" — many of us even celebrate it - Salon.com Christians don't own the idea of a winter celebration

I always love to read the perspective of @davidgmcafee.bsky.social . Thank you for bringing an educated perspective to this faux war.

Gray St. John’s Bay Henley shirt with a tear in the seam.

Gray St. John’s Bay Henley shirt with a tear in the seam.

I tried to even-exchange this #StJohnsBay shirt at #JCPenney for an identical shirt; however, without a receipt, they would only give a store credit for the most recent sale price and NOT do an exchange. I’ve shopped there for years with no problems; I won’t be back unless they make it right.

It's a bad-faith technique because it relies on spurious claims and because it makes it difficult or impossible for an opponent to respond in the allotted time. Scott coined the term in 1994 after Gish developed a habit of challenging evolutionary biologists to debates on college campuses.

Self-styled political debate influencers often use the rhetorical technique "Gish gallop," whereby a "galloper" floods their opponent with rapid-fire, disconnected, often inaccurate arguments.

Anthropologist Eugenie Scott first used the term to describe the debate style of creationist Duane Gish.

Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick demands citizens stand for Christian prayers—or else Dan Patrick’s threats against Senate observers highlight a dangerous mix of religion and government

In 2007, as state senator, Dan Patrick walked out on a Muslim invocation prayer so he wouldn't be seen as "endorsing" it.

Now, the Texas Lt. Gov. is demanding all citizens stand for Christian invocations.

So much for religious freedom.

Too bad you’re not taking home to Austin when you speak with Drew and Taylor…he could be Bones McCoy.

Interesting to see two conflicting messages from the American side of the St. Clair River separating the U.S. and Canada.

One is “America loves our ally and respects Canada’s sovereignty.”

The other is: “American Betrayal and Conquest - Ultra Edition.”

I’m from MI but was in the area last week and saw her office in Morristown. All I could think of when I saw her name was you being taken out of the town hall.

My takeaways from Civil Rights Summit on Disability Rights sponsored by the Michigan Dept. of Civil Rights: “Breaking barriers and building bridges.” Also, it’s important to be curious rather than critical, especially as a supervisor/mgr. #MDCR #ClaudiaGordon #DisabilitiesAren’tAllVisible #Empathy

A church told members how to vote. The IRS officially says that's fine. The Johnson Amendment may be in effect, but even the IRS doesn't want to enforce it

The IRS has officially shut down an investigation into a church that violated the Johnson Amendment and endorsed political candidates.

The fact that they investigated *at all* might be the bigger story.
