Very cool! I've always loved the Nights into Dreams character. Didn't have the game on my Saturn at the time though, but a friend of mine did. 👍

Back in 1997, when Moon Child was about to be released, Flash had just been introduced by Macromedia (pre-Adobe), and I made a simple site with it for The Games Department, our semi-independent game development division of a Dutch media company called Valkieser, where we developed Moon Child. 🙂

#MoonChild features three secret locations that make him get all dark diamonds of that level at once and warp him to the next level. I'll post these today and tomorrow in a small thread.

These are the craziest most surreal visuals I have ever seen I love it.

So stuff that led to amazingly unique effects and aesthetics like this are something you would rarely see in a sidescroller made today.
It gives games like Hoi an extremely unique flavor that sticks out even today!

I wonder if more games will take influence from it in the future?

As Team Hoi has a demo-scene background, we turned Hoi's final level into a crazy tribute to that. It resulted in the first ever epileptic seizure warning on a game box in 1992. 😅
