also the leadership of most American unions are far too timid and conservative to do the kind of organizing it would take to do a general strike 20 years from now & most unions are deeply autocratic so those ossified union leaders are unlikely to be removed & replaced as they should be

I love the idea of a general strike, but I've been a union activist for far too long to think its possible - only 6% of private sector and 32% of public sector workers are union, 99% of union workers have never been on strike & strikes are illegal for most public sector workers

I get it - in the modern left, anti Israeli blood libel is the coin of the realm, we're all supposed to do the two minute hate of Israeli Jews every day & we're all supposed to be cheerleaders for Palestinian Arab nationalism - but this is not how it always was in US labor
