The NYS Common Retirement Fund has invested $400M in Palantir, $350M in Israel bonds, and about $5B in fossil-fuel investments.
It's time, after 20 years, to finally replace Tom DiNapoli, who's up for re-election this year. In my opinion, the best candidate to replace him is @drewforny.bsky.social.
Awesome. Thanks for sharing.
The Public Advocate speaks forcefully as advocates listen, holding signs from Housing Works and other organizations
Council Member Hanif speaks forcefully
Two advocates hold a "Protest banned here" poster with a map of Upper Manhattan and the South Bronx, with many pins representing educational facilities
Protesters hold a banner and signs reading "Protect Free Speech" and "We want Safety Not Censorship"
From the Civil Rights Movement to the March for our Lives against gun violence, protests in educational spaces have made history.
Campus should be a place for discussion, debate, dissent, and yes, non-violent protest.
Safety is essential—but change requires disruption.

newyorkwarcrimes.com/against-the-... - this is powerfully written. Today is Palestinian Prisoners Day.
Frank Herbert I apologize for ever doubting you
This looks amazing. On it
Of interest @zinelib.bsky.social ?
Thank you Senator Chris Van Hollen for sharing US citizen Rachel Corrie’s story from the Senate floor and voting to block the destructive bulldozers that Israeli soldiers used to kill her.
Merci

“Israel shall preserve its right to take all necessary measures in self-defense, at any time, against planned, imminent, or ongoing attacks. This shall not be impeded by the cessation of hostilities.” Israel-Lebanon ceasefire does not require Israel to cease fire.

How is “viewpoint diversity” not just affirmative action for people with bad ideas
For the cost of one Harvard Professor of the Constitution Only Applies to White People, you could endow 10 professorships of any less commonly taught language at any university in the USA
DREAM for NYC has launched an open letter to @governor.ny.gov urging her to adopt @mayor.nyc.gov’s Tax The Rich budget agenda to stave off major cuts to social services, which per polling a majority of NYers support [ dreamfornyc.com/action ]
I’m told about 1,300 New Yorkers have signed so far.
This was seventeen years ago today. Can’t help wondering how different things would be now if rhe architects of the torture program had been held accountable in some way rather than honored and appointed to more presigious posts. www.nytimes.com/2009/04/17/u...
"Garber said that “a great deal” of what had initially been labeled antisemitism was ultimately anti-Israeli bias, which he called “insidious and maybe more corrosive of University life.”"

So @theharvardcrimson.bsky.social is reporting that Alan Garber, president of Harvard, admits it was criticism of Israel, not antisemitism, but that criticizing Israel is worse.

Chuck Schumer's two votes tonight in favor of bombs and bulldozers to Israel is yet another reason Senate Democrats must vote to remove him as leader post the midterms.
they're gonna fuck around and coin a new "Obamacare" — a term they think is derisive, but secretly reveals how beloved the policy (and the politician) is with the broader public
NYC is not a desert. The same week should not contain 33 and 90 degrees.
As someone who was forced out of Harvard because my viewpoints were too diverse, this just confirms that Harvard wants in on the white supremacy grift on their own terms, not anyone else’s. They not like us.
Hey, do you want to see more fantasy, science fiction, and horror from Palestinian writers?
You know what to do! www.kickstarter.com/projects/158...
This is wildly myopic and a massive hostage to fortune IMO. Just because MTG and Tucker Carlson hate Jews more than other minorities doesn't mean they won't turn on the rest once the pogroms start. They absolutely will. Lie down with dogs, you get fleas.
Spotted on University of Georgia’s campus tonight as JD Vance speaks to a mostly empty arena…
Haven’t had a bad dish at Laut. I love the roti at Semma. If you’re looking at that level, Dirt Candy is really good. Lots of great Yemeni coffee places have opened up in NYC. Mission Ceviche is a good social/sharing spot. Persepolis on UES and Balad on LES are nice too.
Near the con or away? Laut in Union Square is great. Semma downtown is good. Grey Dog is a lovely casual place.
🗣️Tax Filing Reminder! The deadline to file taxes is April 15th, and almost half of all New Yorkers can file through NYC Free Tax Prep at nyc.gov/TaxPrep

Congratulations to Edward Curtis on receiving a Guggenheim and representing religious studies!
The most bad-ass rebuttal from Tite Kubo, the author of Bleach.
