Thank you for the info. I don’t have a Breakout EDU account. Are the locks generally about a specific type of content? I’m simply interested in the idea of offering regular digital puzzles and looking for ideas. Was thinking of making some weekly ones based on my district’s digital resources.

Several colorful plastic boxes with clasps that can be locked.
I made my own breakout boxes (I think I’m gonna call them “break-in boxes”) and will be using them for orientation this week!
I’d love to hear about the “daily lock of the day”!
AI advocates have warned that if every author in the class action filed a claim, it would "financially ruin" the entire industry.
Images from the tv show Squid Game tacked to the wall of a 3D display case, including a doll viewed from reverse and 2 squid game guards in front of a large tree. Sign says, “love squid game? Try these books about kids fighting to survive.” Copies of books visible: The Hunger games (in Spanish). The Maze Runner, Blazewrath Games, and Amari and the Great Game.

My amazing Library Practice students designed an effective display promoting Squid Game read-alikes.
Grimly smiling person holding a red sign that says, “This classroom is a safe space for immigrants.”

Commiseration and Celebration for my National Board Certification cohort at my school. We all had at least some good news to celebrate, and determination to persevere in the year ahead.
This is very important to me. Kohn warns us that the extrinsic motivation of rewards can have a long-term negative outcome on the desired behavior. Reading in this case. The closer the reward is to the activity itself the better for encouraging the original activity.
Also created a thematically connected treasure hunt. Pablo the Polar Bear is hiding around the library, doing a different challenge activity each day. Kids find him, write down which winter challenge activity he’s doing, and enter to win a LEGO prize. This part was a student idea!
Students who complete at least one activity will be eligible to choose a free book as a prize. Students are also asked to set their own goal. We’ll see how it goes this year. #EduSky #Skybrarian #TLSkyChat #SchoolLibrarian
Handout features a photo of a stuffed polar bear in a winter scene. States the following: “Find Pablo the polar bear completing the winter reading challenge day in the library. Each day, Pablo is in a different spot working toward his reading challenge. Enter every day for a chance to win a Lego prize.”
Handout titled Winter Reading Challenge. Lists 13 activities students can choose from, including “Read in front of a real or digital fire,” “Read while enjoying a hot beverage,” “Read in your coziest pajamas,” “Read aloud to a friend, family member, pet, or stuffy,” “Read a book recommended by a friend, family member, teacher, or librarian,” “Read in a format you don’t usually choose,” “Read in a genre you don’t usual choose,” “Read a book set in the winter or holiday season,” “Read a book in a series.” At the bottom of page, students choose how many to set as their goal.
Participation in my library winter reading challenge was low last year. This year, I’m trying to make it super accessible and more student driven. Students pick between 1 to 13 activities to complete. If they complete even one, I consider that a success.
Library book club win: Ss had such fun w/ my “White Elephant” activity. Books were wrapped, w/ only a blurb to guide their choices. A student chose one, unwraps to reveal, & picks the next person to choose. Books can be “stolen” once unwrapped up to 3x. Everyone was happy at the end. #EduSky
Perfection! ❄️☕️📚
Congratulations on your achievement! I just got mine, too!
Thank you!!!!
Thank you, Steve!
An image of fireworks. Underneath, the words, “Congratulations, you are a National Board Certified Teacher!”
Achieved my National Board Certification as a Library Media Specialist. ‘Twas a long journey, and I’m thankful to reach this milestone. #EduSky #Skybrarian #SchoolLibrarian #IAmAnNBCT #NBCTStrong @NBPTS
Optimist: The cup is half full.
Pessimist: The cup is half empty.
School librarian: This cup is perfect for dynamic shelving with several front-facing books!
How do you measure highest?
I ♥️ this & appreciate the details. Where do you bake—the school cafeteria? If so, do you mix in the cafeteria too? Our school cafeteria is not allowed to cook food from scratch, only heat prepared items, so not sure if I could implement I bake a lot at home. Would love to share this w/kids
Paper airplane contest in the library today!
Just finished this one. What a suspenseful ride! Once I got 100 or so pages in, I couldn’t put it down

One of my favorites. Still think about it regularly after reading it a year ago.
Give my greetings to your family! 🥰
@davidramon.bsky.social hi! Good to see you on here!
2. Creative Writing Club kids, when asked, “how satisfied are you with the club?”: “Ten out of ten!” “Eleven out of ten!”
