When my mother's condo burned, she refused to go to the hospital until they took the cat (in the ambulance) to our vet's. Bless all the kind souls.
A banner about The Emptying, a new novel by Mimi Thebo and Rachel Delahaye.
Out next month. Preorders available with Peters, Waterstones and all good independent bookshops. ARCs from TroikaBooks.
We really hope you enjoy our vision of AI danger and human value.
Turns out (says @jburnmurdoch.ft.com) it's not so much an oversupply of graduates in the UK (the same would be true of other similar countries but it's not) as an undersupply of the kind of jobs that a better-performing, more productive economy would supply.
A yellow book cover for The Emptying by Mimi Thebo and Rachel Delahaye with figures and a tree symbol, mounted on a pale blue background with a blurb - After too many human errors, AI is taking care of things. But in the city and on the farms, people begin to sense that something is very wrong. Why won't anyone explain what's going on? Two teenagers searching for answers appear to be the only ones willing to face up to reality...What's left of it. This is a hope-filled dystopian novel about AI, human connection and collective responsibility for age 12+.

DON'T FORGET - There's still time to watch the 2025 Review episode of #TheBCSPodcast!
I look back on the highlights of last year's episodes and multiple contributors, inc. @bleasedog.bsky.social and @mimithebo.bsky.social, give their sporting moments of the year.
I saw people this morning who looked like they’d never seen a shop before.
Just came on to say this. We’re horrible people.
I want to see Nagy’s taillights. Real bad.
Every other drive for 20 months:
1. Run up the middle
2. Crappy play action in shotgun
3. Ohmigod, we need 14 yards. Get Pat to throw it somewhere.
4. Good. He did, let’s put him under the same conditions again…or…he didn’t, let’s lecture him on the bench.
All the confidence schemed out of him!
Devastatingly attractive older woman in Chief’s jersey.

I have things to say about Nagy’s playcalling. Things. To. Say.
….(except Spags). Clark and Brett know it, should have done it last year. But it’s hard to argue with 15 and 2.
I am so proud of our team. But nothing in this world has infinite energy. Everything needs to rest and renew. Even the Chiefs. 😍🏈🏟️
…for five years and it’s a LOT.
It doesn’t matter how well you condition your body. It’s a lot.
They need this. They need a rest and a refresh. We need to, sadly, say goodbye to some expensive heroes. We need to build a new team around Pat Mahomes. We need to rethink our coaching staff…
All year long, the The Kansas City Chiefs have looked… tired. Just worn out. Three-under-three tired. Startup tired. Tired to their freaking bones.
It’s a hard enough league. Then there’s the big night games, holiday games, overseas games…being the NFL’s show ponies. Add an extra month of games…

Being an NFL @kansascitychiefs.bsky.social fan, as well as a mum and a university programme director, I always have a handful of kids I’m worried about. I don’t know Josh Simmons, but he’s on my list to fret over.
This workshop will initiate with people from Mexico, Latin America and Europe to strengthen the ties of stop motion and collaboration and, in exchange, education will be provided for free for one Mexican / Latinamerican student for the first ten years also.

One of the things about this study is that a lot of baby and toddler books are written in house, by editors. So the study reveals the whiteness of editorial in kidlit even if not explicitly. But, big picture, this trend is unacceptable. I remember so many promises www.theguardian.com/books/2025/o...
Is there a subtle marine motif here, or am I reading something into your work?? 😍😍😍
Loved this story and you might, too.
Unsolicited writing advice, no. 18167:
There is no "typical reader," just as there is no "typical writer." Your first responsibility is to yourself; to create the most honest, well-written, carefully-researched story you can. Finding readers comes later.
Will be very good.
