To what extent is today's debate about the article questioning the legitimacy of a certain band's rise to popularity really a proxy debate between people who love them and people who were eager for an "objective" reason to "prove" they're actually bad? Discuss.

This is a really good one. I feel like it's maybe more of an aesthetic thing that appeals to some people (they look like a caveman/animated ideal of what "steak" is and so subconsciously they're seen as a more legitimate meat experience or something). Might even be subconscious.
