I signed up to hang out with a shelter dog next weekend but I got paranoid bc I’ve never walked a dog by myself before so I took my brothers dog hiking to practice!

It was so fun! we saw an owl!

and I made no secret of my lineage when I submitted my first manuscript to publishers. No one expected the reviews to be kind. In fact, the CEO of one of the most prestigious publishers in New York asked me point-blank after reading the manuscript, "Are you prepared for what they're going to say about you?" Naturally, I said yes, but the honest answer would have been no.
(And given that she'd made just made me a very respectable offer for it, I assumed this wasn't her sidelong way of telling me she thought the book sucked.)
The point is I was a kid. Literally. And if you look at pictures of me from that period, I look the part. The part of a very tall child, mind you, and one that on most days of the week reeked of cigarettes and booze. At the time, my mother liked to tell people I had a six-year-old's face on a 6'3" body. (Apparently my rapid growth spurt in high school served as the inspiration for the Taltos, a species of supernatural creatures my mother

introduced in her series The Lives of the Mayfair Witches, creatures that grow to a height of almost seven feet within hours of being born.) But baby-cheeks or no baby-cheeks, I had completed a novel-length manuscript, and most people who read it had a hard time describing it without getting red in the face and a little disoriented. Also, my mother was famous. So something was about to happen to me. And to it.

@mckatkat.bsky.social I just finished A Density of Souls by Christopher Rice (the revised edition) and he drops this incredible piece of Taltos lore in the afterward that I thought you’d appreciate too

It’s so crazy making to me how the things it does well are done SO WELL but then painted itself into a corner and now s3 is just ? What LMAOOOO? Someone missed the memo and lost what was charming and enjoyable about the original seasons. 😝

when you see a circlejerk of people congratulating themselves for successfully dissecting why a kink is actually bad you gotta say to yourself "huge day for fucking losers, i see!"

Yeah, Mackenzie Scott is a fascinating case. She is literally ignoring the SOPs of philanthropy in order to give away wealth as quickly and efficiently as possible and she’s still getting richer. At her level it is impossible not to make money. Tax billionaires, A LOT.
