Come to think of it...and maybe this is my rose-tinted glasses talking, and I need to do some rewatching, but I'm struggling to think of ANY oof-worthy jokes, from a comedy series that spanned the 80s, 90s, 00s. No cheap homophobic gags, no fucking blackface...looking at you Little Britain.

Like...not even one off-colour joke or comment that I can recall. Nothing at all in fact. The boys from the dwarf just rolled with it. They gave exactly zero smegs about it.

And though I was literally five years old at the time, and only caught up after the fact, so my impressions might not be accurate...but I genuinely don't remember ever seeing any whiff of outrage about it. But maybe there are scandalised tabloid headlines about it somewhere that I never saw.

I know they did it because Norman spat his dummy and they quite handily had Hattie as an option after that one episode, but it's actually quite impressive they had a primary character do a 'head sex change operation' in 1989 and didn't do anything with it that we'd look back on and wince at.
