As a game QA professional having worked on several AAA and smaller projects over a period of 20 years, what upsets me most about this news is the fundamental lack of understanding of what game testers actually do. Using AI tools is one thing. But they're incapable of the problem solving testers do.
The stock market isn't really pegged to the day-to-day happenings of businesses. Investors are more interested in the overall growth of a company's market cap. In other words, it's disingenuous to look at the stock market to judge the effectiveness of a boycott campaign.
I admit I'm a huge AI skeptic. But I believe AI will play a big role as a useful tool for us in finding bugs. But it won't replace QA professionals. AI and automation tools lack the context needed to evaluate gameplay, call out risks, and generate useful test cases and charters for coverage.
