Fred from Scooby-Doo unmasking the bad guy at the end of a mystery, in two frames.
First frame:
Left side: a tied up man in a white featureless mask with eye holes. The caption over him in impact font reads, "SOMETHING I USED TO LOVE SUCKS NOW"
Right side of frame, Fred has his hand on the mask, about to pull it off. The caption on him reads, "LET'S SEE WHO'S BEHIND THIS."
Second frame:
The unmasked bad guy has a pencil thin curling mustache, a pointy nose, and dark hair, with a widow's peak.
The caption on him reads, "PRIVATE EQUITY"

These are pretty boarded up and I didn't see any signs of life/occupation, though ofc people could be transiently squatting there at night.

There's an entire street of abandoned but aesthetically charming apartment buildings about a block and a half from the Egyptian Theater, and every time I see them I want to know whose fault it is.

I just saw this on a big screen for the first time, and it really is a marvel. It's so prescient, so precise, and so (believe it or not) subtle. This time around, I kept being struck by how impressive all the performances are. It truly feels like a real documentary.

There needs to be a giant billboard in every major American city that touts this. In any other era except this suicidal science administration, this would be a miraculous, wondrous thing.

Vought also promoted this lie during his testimony this week. The whole administration is committed to the idea that everyone who has lost their healthcare is committing fraud or an illegal immigrant. Those are not the facts on the ground.

A portion of the book cover for ‘Smog and Sunshine’
Headline reads “You Think L.A. Smog is Bad Now? Let’s Set the Record Straight”
Professor Ann Carlson’s new book, “Smog and Sunshine: The Surprising Story of How Los Angeles Cleaned Up Its Air,” is for anyone who’s ever given a damn about the air we breathe in this city.

A very tiny bright orange baby salamander. It is extraordinarily cute, lying happily on moss.
We saw our first little red eft of the year today. If you see one please do not pick it up! Their skin is highly porous and the salt, oils, lotion, sunblock, bug spray, etc. from your hands can make them sick. Use a leaf to move them if they must be relocated for their safety. ❤️

If I am going to be subjected to this endless news cycle, then at the very least the pope should call upon the catholic nobility of Europe to raise their banners in a great crusade to reconquer southern Florida and set up some Frankish principalities along the coast

Also Christians have only thought Catholics counted among their ranks for maybe fifty years or so, once they both got het up about abortion policies together. The KKK had them on the undesirable lists.

I want the Democratic strategy position going into midterms and the next presidential election to be one that promises to prosecute those currently, and formerly in government who have engaged in criminal activity or corruption to the fullest extent of the law.
This is how Hungary got rid of Orban.

Smelling the overused portable toilet CBP left at the wall detention area in 2023 was the most disgusting sensory experience I’ve ever had. I almost made myself sick the next day putting on the same mask I had been wearing.
And that was outdoors.

there was the commissioning and then canceling of that Pride collection by queer and trans artists, then there was the DEI rollback, now it’s AI-driven false arrests. Target is setting land-speed records for torching customer goodwill, given how high their popularity and how far they had to fall

I've written before about how USAID was the first government agency killed by conspiracy theory. This confirms it.

you’re only allowed to do it if you go to a dingy bar and place your bet with a guy named vito four fingers who makes it extremely clear that if you welch on him you’re going to join him in the four fingers club

Please take time to make a comment if you can, folks. Chaco Canyon and the Chacoan cultural preservation is about as close as the US has to “preserving a great castle from the Middle Ages”.
Also, feel free to do an internet dive into Chaco, it’s cool stuff!
