Listen, take three minutes and listen to this life-affirming cheese. This song rules and we need it right now.

Things that help calm the nervous system, quickly:

- Box breathing (in for 4, hold for 4, out for 4, hold for 4, repeat)
- Immerse your face in cold water (activates mammalian dive reflex)
- Humming (stimulates vagus nerve)
- Exercise (anything helps, outside even better)
- Impeachment and removal

yes, please do not fedpost

but also it is incredibly infuriating that the president of the united states can threaten to destroy an entire civilization with impunity and the rest of us have to say <redacted> a lot

An orange cat sits on a window sill and looks on at a snowy early morning scene. He seems untroubled at the disruptive weather, surrounded by some small plants, with a cart of crafting supplies in the foreground.

2 days ago, our yard was basically clear of snow. Now Rudy gets to look on as potentially 12 more inches of the stuff falls from the sky.

One cat is going in for dental care this morning, which means no cats are eating breakfast at the moment.

They are both (justifiably) irate and there is nothing we can do about it until we have the one packed up and out the door.

I really wish this was us playing an April fools prank on them.

This is probably the most productive birthday I've had in my entire 41 years.

✔️Renewed my driver's license
✔️We both finally renewed our very expired passports
✔️I got a haircut
✔️Finally ordered glasses with my new prescription

While I think it's okay to like beautiful things (and I certainly do), I fear the insecure child who's still very much a part of me is trying to keep up with the Joneses, though I don't live near them, have never met them, and probably wouldn't even like them. To my great dismay, it's not actually empowering to fill an emotional void with expensive things you do not need, even if you are buying them for cents on the dollar.

this is just rude; why would this nice writer I’ve never met come for me with such violence

I year+ of not shopping there, and I've learned I don't need it the way I thought I did. I'll stick with trying to shop smaller and keep giving them a wide berth, tyvm.

Latest turn of events, we were in this shop a couple weeks ago during filming for a local news story, and are now in the thumbnail for said video.

I'm feeling some type of way, since it feels a little bit like we started stepping out on our established knitting group to go somewhere new.

Start the new Joe Ledger today.

Confused recognition of "Stregoni Benefici" was not allayed until I searched & realized why I felt it was a common-use Italian/Latin phrase & Joe was an idiot for not recognizing it.🤦🏻

The universe has been telling me I need to revisit Twilight... maybe after this.

I am confident I can get over the hump of my previously unacknowledged food issues when it comes to me trying new things, but sometimes I feel like a toddler who needs to try things multiple times before I can accept something as "real" food and not a flavor nightmare I have to endure.

As part of our household's attempt to curb some cholesterol stuff we are revisiting previous success by trying a vegan diet once a week. The best choice is to do this Monday, before the work week has really taken its ruthless hold.

Getting used to oat milk in my coffee is going to be... a struggle.

This one was part of the World of Wool advent calendar, and was pistachio inspired. It looks a bit different in person, but definitely evokes the color of what they labeled "The Happy Nut."

I have a lot of handspun that needs a soak and set before I can actually use it. But, I'm super proud of my latest result and can't wait to actually use it. #handspunyarn

Our old apartment was at the top of a hill yet also at the bottom of one outside of the complex. It always felt like I had to strain at the beginning and end of a ride.

Today was much more sedate. Also, a good note of the paths still freezing over at night and being slick in the early morning.

First bike ride of 2026!

False spring has been playing with me for a couple of weeks and I couldn't resist any more.

It turns out, our new place is more hospitable to my very-out-of-shape self getting on a bicycle. It was only a 2 mile ride, but I never felt like I might die from lack of breath.

"Leave the world behind" also feels antithetical to humanity at this point.

Even the reality of living in Stardew Valley would be beyond my capabilities at this point.

Spending any money keeps taking me back to The Good Place, when they calculate the result of sending flowers to someone.

Part of me just wants to find a piece of land in the middle of nowhere and we just never see the rest of the world again, except that isn't at all possible in this reality.

We're over a year out from our last Target order in this household. I genuinely don't know what they could do at this point that I would give them my money again.

It's been annoying holding this line, but we've certainly proved we could do it, so it's going to continue.

Our Level 20 campaign came to an end tonight.

One hell of an introduction to D&D for us. I know our GM wants to try a different system should we decide to game again, but I really don't know how anything could compare to this experience.

They did also plow MOST of that snow into our yard, so we've probably lost the ability to shovel anything else from the edge of the street into that pile given its height and degree of slope. But, at least our path is clear for once.

Our early morning shoveling has been rewarded! They have finally plowed our street, and the plow person could clearly see where the edge of our driveway was and caught everything with the blade so we don't have a GIGANTIC BERM to shift before leaving the driveway.

And, we are now at the stage of "my brain is made of jello surrounded by cotton balls." Because a can of coke and some midol have at least ushered the aura out of my field of vision, and the rest of the day I'll feel like someone drained all energy from my soul.

Maybe that's what the aura is about?
