I came back to this today (BWV 378 for anyone else wanting more context) and one downside I hadn't realized to the obvious alternative is that the alto part for the phrase becomes ultra boring (especially after the previous phrase). Still...

Especially when there is a totally standard solution - G-F# in the alto (no octave jump) and C#-D in the tenor. (Surely he didn’t write this monstrosity just to get around unequal fifths?)
I have had the same experience!
They won't come back, but I miss the (knockout) long candidates matches of my youth.
I was thinking harmonic.
This is a terrible reason, but when I listen to a hour-plus symphony, I can really use a late scherzo to get my blood sugar going again. The second quarter is the best place to put a slow movement if you want my full attention.
Spider And Web.
I love Bruce Fowler's work with Zappa but never thought to look him up outside of that! Looks like's had an interesting career.
Of course you're going to be back in time for the lead vocal, it's the lead vocal, but for backing vocals you're a lot more cavalier about it and maybe you're still getting into position during the first word or two, and that sort of sloppy + precise attitude is what rock is all about, to me.
Yes!! I was totally unaware of this sketch.
The best moment in rock performance is when you barely get back to the mic in time to sing your backing vocal.
Wendy Eisenberg uses “they”, FYI.
Yeah! It's like the F chord is a tritone substitution from a B but no one told the singer that the chord changed.
One of my favorite moments in all of rock is the simultaneous mixed modes of A-B-C# ("this will be") over an F9 chord in "This Will Be Our Year". I love to do this sort of thing and I bet this is where I first got it. www.youtube.com/watch?v=tm4E...

One of my favorite warhorses of all time!
I basically live inside a music library now. It's amazing.

I'm not sure how to feel about the fact that almost all of my favorite Lennon songs are from when he was doing lots of LSD.
"Little Child" and "Good Morning Good Morning" are both on my list of the most underrated song on each Beatles album: dfan.org/blog/posts/2...
The last two characters are weiqi (Go), so that part isn't so weird. 棋 often gets translated as "chess" but it's really any abstract board game in general.
Historically writers have not done great with the quotation marks in the David Bowie song "Heroes".
Someday I will write a movement marked Allegro con troppo,
Basically we got them through two distinct paths (not an excuse, just an explanation). -able is the default; there's a finite list of -ible words and they all have Latin roots because that was the route they took to English.
Wow, never heard of him but this looks right up my alley. Too bad we'll never know what W words he'd have gotten to if he needed another hundred.
Frohwalt bin ich!
About twenty contenders, but today it's The Goldheart Mountaintop Queen Directory.
