In 2024, Premier Wakeham said abandoning Memorial University and telling it to 'go fix your problems' was 'not good enough.' These are his own words, on the record with CBC. Budget-2026 is his chance to prove he believed them.

Our institution's guidelines for exams: "There should be at least one invigilator for every 50 students." Our administration: you should be teaching classes of 350 students and have only one lab instructor for 144 students spread over two rooms. @munfaculty.bsky.social @munsu35.bsky.social
MUNFA will keep bringing these facts to the people who need to hear them. The only university in Newfoundland and Labrador deserves stable, adequate funding. 4/4

While government spending has increased by roughly 40% over the past 10 years, MUN has absorbed a 10% cut. The people paying the price are students and the faculty who teach them. 3/4
Course sections are disappearing. First-year Math Class sizes have grown by 67%. Teaching Term Appointments are being cut without consultation. Students are losing access to the courses and supports they need to succeed. 2/4

Memorial isn’t just a university to people. It’s where things start. And right now, people are worried about what’s being lost.
Keep sharing your stories. They matter more than ever.

These are the kinds of stories we keep hearing.
A course that changed someone’s life.
A reason someone stayed in Newfoundland and Labrador.
A degree that helped build a career, a business, a future.
A hope that the next generation gets the same chance. 1/2

I believe in MUN because I believe in the future of our province! The creativity and dedication of the students keeps me going every day, and I am so happy to be able to build my career at MUN. #WeAreMUN
When I was in grade 8 or 9 a professor from the Corner Brook campus organized a math Olympiad event in my town for students. My team did well in the event and it was one of the first times that I knew I could succeed at university and encouraged my path in astronomy. #WeAreMUN

MUNFA members know that underfunding does not strengthen universities or the communities they serve. Accepting decline is a choice and we are choosing to speak up.
That is why we are asking members to take part in the #WeAreMUN campaign. 2/3
Across Memorial, we are seeing the real impacts of ongoing funding cuts. Programs are changing. Jobs are being lost. Teaching and learning conditions are under pressure.
The impacts are not abstract. They affect our classrooms, our colleagues, and our students.1/3
