BBC’s claims on MVDAC-DVILR misuse do not reflect frontline reality. Misuse is the exception, not the norm.
With 92 organisations, we reject this framing and call for evidence-led debate rooted in lived experience.

We are aware of the BBC’s investigation into individuals allegedly helping people fabricate LGBTQI+ asylum claims. Read the full statement on our website:
These tragic deaths come just over a week after two people died in the Channel.
Each death is a tragedy and completely avoidable.
Our thoughts are with their loved ones and all who were on the boat.
We urgently need safe routes.

Yesterday morning at least four people were killed whilst attempting to cross the English Channel. Our thoughts are with their friends, family and loved ones - and with all those forced to risk their lives seeking safety.

Signing this EDM is one clear way your MP can speak out against appalling new rules that will force people to wait decades for settlement, safety and security.

There must be a full statutory inquiry into UK funding and policy relating to the border, how it has enabled human rights abuses, and the way it has put lives at risk.

Paying millions to re-check claims while refusing refugees the basic security they’ need to put down roots, work and rebuild their lives.
We'd love the Government to explain how exactly this lose-lose plan is going to make anything better for anyone.

Just so we’re clear:
❌ Travelling clandestinely or in a small boat to seek asylum: wrong
❌ Travelling safely and regularly to seek asylum: also wrong
When you close safer pathways, you don’t make desperation disappear, you just reroute it, meaning more people will be forced into taking dangerous journeys to save their lives.
Singling out these countries, knowing so many people have already been displaced due to conflict, is especially cruel.

The Government talks about wanting to reduce division and increase integration and then implements policies which will do the complete opposite, argues @danielsohege.bsky.social

The Labour Party says it's determined to lift children out of poverty.
So why don't children seeking sanctuary count?
✍️ @nbphillips1872.bsky.social
Utterly cruel, pointless and harmful. It does not minimise how bad Conservatives were to say Labour are now the most anti-asylum government in most people's living memory. This prevents people feeling any sense of safety and security after fleeing persecution.

"Not only are they opting against lifting asylum-seeking kids out of poverty, they are actively and aggressively impoverishing them further.
"Who became a Labour MP to do that?"

Today is a dark day for anyone who believes in sanctuary in the UK.
People who've fled war and torture should be able to rebuild their lives in peace and security - not live under a constant threat of removal.
We must not stop fighting these appalling anti-refugee laws.

Or just sell the properties back to Marvel fully who know how to build a cinematic universe.
How did Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor escape criticism and accountability for so long?
Partly because MPs are "barred" from criticising the royals and need to be "respectful" of them, Lib Dem leader Ed Davey told the Commons yesterday.

Yet another prime example of FPTP being a broken electoral system. A clear majority of voters want a progressive MP, but Reform could sneak in.
Voters would actually get better campaigns too, rather than dodgy bar charts, poll obsession and "only we can win here" tedium.
The response to policies which are based on "Christian nationalism" and far right racism is not "how will you afford it". Reform is promoting seriously far right, evangelical, fuckwittery, which is opposed by majority of the country, too many journalists keep treating them as "business as usual".
Wrote this back in September, and it is holding fast.
Reform's sickeningly racist policies announced this week are far worse than anything we have seen thus far, but they are also enabled by Labour's own shift to the right with attacks on marginalised groups. 1/3
www.lbc.co.uk/article/keir...
It's interesting and worrying to see people on here unable to see that Reform and Labour's diagnosis is ultimately the same. 'A large number of people came and it is bad for the UK'. They just differ on scope, language and policy.
