I would submit that a gerrymander by politicians saying fuck the voters and one by voters saying fuck the politicians are two wholly different animals

Folks are sleeping on what is going on in North Carolina.
It's really not good.
Great job by @rikiwilchins.bsky.social on this interview.
70 Minnesota children.
Delta Air Lines, who likely flew nearly all of these kiddos out of MSP, could publicly condemn this and end the practice tomorrow, as the airlines did in 2018 with family separation, but it’s easier to stay silent.

In 2023, Minnesota decriminalized paraphernalia. This week we are voting on the Care Over Criminalization ordinance to align Minneapolis with state law. This ordinance is not about legalizing drug possession. It’s not about legalizing drug use. It’s not about completely unrelated laws passed in other cities, states, or anywhere else. Literally all this ordinance does is decriminalize the possession of paraphernalia in alignment with state law. It is about public health and community safety. This ordinance was developed and is backed by data from experts with vast experience on the ground and in the community. Syringe service programs reduce HIV and Hepatitis C transmission by an estimated 50%. People don’t stop using needles because their needles are illegal. Instead, they share them, can get infections, and end up in emergency rooms. Medical practitioners have shared their expertise. Researchers have shared their data-driven evidence. This ordinance will have positive public health and safety outcomes. Unfortunately, the current ordinance subjects people to petty misdemeanor and misdemeanor charges that impact people’s ability to get a job, find housing, and more. This can also have devastating immigration consequences like deportations for our undocumented neighbors. Let’s get this done! Jason Chavez

ICE agents are not all-powerful and immune from all consequences — no matter what Trump says.
Kudos to these Minnesota officials for doing what they can to rein in this out-of-control agency. More states and cities should follow suit.
We're supposed to be cool with our neighbors being brutalized by cops or being disappeared by feds or having to carry a child of rape to term, but the rich paying slightly more taxes is terrifying?
For those not following Aallyah's reporting, the railroad company, run by the white descendants of slaveowners, is now trying to seize a plot of land where enslaved Black people were forced to work but their descendants managed to buy out.

They claim DEI elevates people unfairly
But what they really mean is DEI gets in the way of them unfairly elevating their supremely unqualified people
Barrera said her husband said the smell of human feces in the toilet caused a fellow detainee to vomit and, in turn, created a chain of people vomiting. She said her husband is asthmatic and has not received medication to treat his condition. The lack of medicine and the stress of the overcrowded holding cell has left him short of breath and teetering on the edge of an asthma attack, Barrera said. ICE did not immediately respond to questions on April 10 about the conditions of the Mesa or Phoenix facilities. After the publication of this article, Barrera told The Arizona Republic her husband was transferred to the ICE facility at San Luis Regional Detention Center at about midnight. The San Luis Regional Detention Center is in Southwestern Arizona and has the capacity to hold 700 people.
This is horrific. A U.S. citizen describes the facility in Arizona that her husband was brought to while he waited to be put on a deportation flight. Dozens of people were crammed into tiny cells, there was a "chain of people vomiting" from filthy toilets, no medical care, and only one meal per day.

The underlying message of potential reparations for white workers is evident, and painfully so. We are here to protect and defend you, the regime is saying to white men in the US. You will get the spoils of our domination. Our power will be your power. That is the message.
"Some say the pandemic prompted them to reconsider unsatisfying corporate jobs, while others say that because they could not find LGBTQ+ literature in their local bookstores, they decided to open their own."
Goes without saying: this is a feature, not a bug
By the time they throw out your case, you've been brutalized by cops. You spent hours or possibly days in jail. Your family had to scrape together bail money. You miss work to go to court. You spend months terrified of months or years in jail
The U.S. government is preparing to begin automatically registering young men for the military draft pool.
A database like this, warns anti-war activist Edward Hasbrouck, "is particularly likely to be weaponized for other purposes against vulnerable trans and immigrant youth."
They kidnapped babies, shot three Minneapolitans, and murdered two. Only sick sociopaths would create a coin to commemorate that.
One of the most striking findings of the data analysis is the degree to which the court has allowed religion to push into public life. Over the past five terms, the justices have voted in favor of parties asserting religious rights 98 percent of the time, far outstripping any other court in roughly 75 years.
The Roberts Court has sided with so-called religious rights at a 98 percent clip, by far the highest rate in SCOTUS history.

Tuan Van Bui is the 46th person to die in federal custody under the Trump regime — an all-time high.
Around 70,000 people are still in ICE detention, a majority of whom have no criminal convictions.
Never forget the cruelty Trump continues to inflict at home.
NY Times: Did Wokeness Leave Us Worse Off? The debate over words we can and can't say., April 8, 2026
The President of the United States threatened to genocide Iran yesterday and is threatening to pull out of NATO today.
Maybe we could be a little more focused on the demonstrable and ongoing harms of anti-wokeness?
This morning, a neighbor was kidnapped by ICE in an apartment parking lot near the East Phillips Park Cultural & Community Center. My office is actively seeking answers.
The presence of ICE and federal agents in our community causes fear, pain, and family separation. 1/
