Excited for @phish.com tonight in a proper outdoor venue (although I'd prefer Bethel or PNC). This Summer tour has too many arenas! #phish

Bishop Danny Garcia of Austin: “We live in a time of great suffering and hurst…We cannot profess to be Catholic and Christian, yet see one another as enemies or strangers. The poor, the weak, those that live on the margins of society and life cannot be forgotten in our policies and practices.

Before 1870, there was no Italy—just Italian-speaking states ruled by other powers and dreaming of independence. Verdi’s “Nabucco: Overture” stoked the Italian cry for statehood like a bugle call. Travel with me back to the Risorgimento in this clip from "Rick Steves’ Europe: A Symphonic Journey."

“That they should be the ones to welcome Pope Francis’s coffin in the basilica is because these people are those who represented the focus of his mission,” said Father Giulio Albanese, head of missionary cooperation and communications for the Vicariate of Rome. “They are those who live on the peripheries, geographical and existential peripheries.”

The final honor guard for Pope Francis included migrants, prisoners, transgender people, the homeless and others selected by the Vicariate of Rome as a symbol of the late pope’s mission of inclusion and outreach.

Pope Francis, trailblazing Jesuit with a heart for the poor, dies at 88 When the cardinals voted to elect Jorge Mario Bergoglio as the 265th successor of St. Peter on the evening of March 13, 2013, few of them imagined what kind of pope he would be.

you can find things to quibble with in every Francis piece, but I picked this one to share because I feel like everything everyone is saying about him boils down to this: he was a Jesuit, through & through. I'll remember the times he made the church feel just a little bit bigger, if not big enough.

A Phish jam can be an otherworldly experience for the band and its listeners. When it goes right, “the universe opens up, and I feel like I don’t exist,” Trey Anastasio, the band’s singer and guitarist, said. nyer.cm/zTvypdp

The refusal to provide people due process before shipping them off to foreign prisons is criminal and intolerable. It must not be normalized. Everyone who believes in justice and America needs to speak up now.

Today we've hit 99% of our April 1 average snowpack statewide and 100% of average for this date. That last storm really helped out!

Three years at or above average is exceedingly rare in California with the last occurrence being in the late 1990s. Time to celebrate!

A small group of protesters hung an inverted American flag — historically used as a sign of distress in Yosemite National Park — on Saturday. The protest came just over a week after the Trump administration abruptly fired at least 1,000 National Park Service employees. nyti.ms/4ka2zwF

Would you go to a phone-free show?

Graham Dugoni invented Yondr pouches—which magnetically lock up phones during events like concerts and at schools—to encourage people to live more in the moment and wrestle our attention back from tech companies.
