Well then. After 9 years my role of Editorial Director at Eurogamer/IGNE has been made redundant. If you’re reading this and feel I have a lot of valuable experience (I do), I’m keen to explore any opportunities (full time, consulting, other) in the games industry. I am great.
I'll no doubt be popping up elsewhere as a bit of a ronin (want to use my expertise? give me a shout). I will still be at GDC/SGF/Gamescom/TGS. Me being at all the events was never out of GN budget & so won't stop.
Onwards, though - to RPG Site's 20th year and... new stuff. Stick with me. Cheers.
Fly through of part of a Keeper level directly in the Unreal Engine editor. Part way through I turn on all of the game objects the player doesn't see -- it takes a lot to make games work.

Some news - today I’m launching One More Catch, an independent publication covering Pokémon Go and the next generation of Pokémon games: @onemorecatch.site
Wowwww Delancey, this rules 😍
As for the non-VR thing: We are still a small team and there's only so much we can do at a time! Currently we are focused on projects featuring new and original IP (no remasters, remakes or reboots). BUT we are still committed to making weird and fun games with heart!
Happy 3rd Birthday, PsychOdyssey! The 33-episode documentary about the making of Psychonauts 2 dropped its first episode on this very day in 2023. If you haven't seen it, there's LOTS of good ways to do so!

The best person to write about the best studio. Also, I can't think of a better subject for a sexy coffee table style book? Definitely getting this.
Editors, I have some truly top-tier gaming interviews that need a home.
If you have budget and are looking for some juicy high quality features, don't hesitate to slide into my DMs.
What a brilliant idea for a game.
Day of the Devs and Wholesome are the main events really, aren't they? Also the Xbox one.
If Hideo Kojima can make Death Stranding all by himself there’s simply no excuse for other solo devs not to be making games on a similar scale
Logged on at PRECISELY the right time to see the UK games industry react to Not Bloodborne.

I have now beaten Adam and Eve. People are still dumb tho.
100%. Visited last year. They've got their shit down in a way that makes London feel even more like cramped, grimy chaos. Some decent food too.
Still haven't beaten Adam and Eve tho but that's cos people are dumb.
33 Immortals got me. Gimme a nice art style and numbers that go up and yes, yes I will happily do the same thing over and over 3,000 times thank you.

No-one has got a clue what they're on about and everyone is being so loud about it
A glitchy, grainy Steam Next Fest logo.
With Steam Next Fest now in full swing, I absolutely INSIST you check out the following demos...
Hey! If you're looking for a seasoned game reviewer with 15+ years' experience reviewing for places like IGN, Eurogamer, PLAY, Edge magazine and more, pls think of me! Schedule has opened up from next month, so I'm open to new opportunities (ideally stable/regular/retainer work). LMK! K! THX! BAI!
I just finished an essay I've been working on for about a month: Being a Kid making games in the early 2000s. It includes videos of my earliest games.

If anything bad happens to this weird little dude, I swear.
I got to play Crescent County, which is a lovely thing to be able to say.
I also got to do a big old interview with @annahollinrake.bsky.social and @pavlemiha.bsky.social about it - what a thing this looks to be: news.xbox.com/en-us/2024/1...
Also thanks to @danielarabbits.bsky.social for offsetting my complete and utter lack of direction.
After waiting way too long, I finally played and finished Botany Manor on Xbox over the last couple nights. It's BRILLIANT. What a perfectly formed thing.
Enjoyed Chants of Sennaar! One of the puzzles was straight up bullshit and the stealth bits were bleh, but otherwise an absolute banger.
