Yes, I know I am focusing on 20th-century media with this. But I mean this as an addition to other reforms; one part of a larger puzzle.

One critical thing to add (IMHO) to the Democrats' To-Do List is to pass laws to break up the big media conglomerates like Sinclair and its ilk. That's for TV, radio, newspapers, etc. It's not a cure-all by any means, but we need to keep RW billionaires from so dominating the discourse.

A well-written & thoughtful article on "Disaster Nationalism" by Richard Seymour. His book by the same title is out now. Seymour is a tad further to the left than me politically, but I think his work on the rise of the global far right is insightful, esp as he looks beyond focusing on elections.

As a historian I'd LOVE to visit the past. But I'm not living anytime before anti biotics, seat belts, and soft toilet paper. I'll spend a weekend in 1919, go to a baseball game, see a lost silent movie, catch a vaudeville show with Eva Tanguay, but then come home.
