When men refer to themselves as "alpha males", I hear that in the context of software, where alpha versions are unstable, missing important features, filled with flaws, and not fit for the public.

Mode X Exploration & Assembly Optimization - Back to the Pascal Ep. 8
Mode X Exploration & Assembly Optimization - Back to the Pascal Ep. 8 YouTube video by weph

Finally dug into Mode X. It can do some neat tricks 13h can't, but it's got some challenges as well... so I had to dust off my very rusty assembly skills

the anime sfx-making tool!
It's called ANIMEVOX, in big letters up top.
Then there's the controls:

In vertical pairs:
Left:
Pitch Rise
Rise speed

Reverb
Room size

On the right:
Wobble Speed
Wobble Amount

Tone Brightness
Volume

Next is a row of keys:
Randomize - randomizes the sound parameters
UNDO/ REDO - go back to parameters you liked
Export Wav - self explanatory, it saves a copy of the latest sound to your hard drive.

Then the fun buttons, with cute art styles:

IMPACT, sparkle, beam, powerUP, PON, BOOM, slash, woosh

Each produces a preset sound, which then goes through the fx chain.

Hope you enjoy it!

I made a tool that makes retro anime sound effects. Meet AnimeVox!
I made it for a game, but it's free to use.

I'm using the forgotten (but popular in 80s japan) Schroeder reverb algo, and some wobble.

If you find it useful consider supporting me on itch :)

*sigh* okay, the hype machine got me... ordered a Commodore 64 Ultimate. I probably don't *really* need it, but my 1702 could use a friend

Some of you have forgotten that only three years ago you were perfectly capable of writing a text, writing an email, telling a bedtime story to a child, and it should worry you that powerful companies have convinced us we can’t do things we’ve been doing since the dawn of time.

Someone suggested 4 but it didn't work either. I couldn't find 3, so I tried 2 and that one does the job.

Apparently Turbo Pascal 7.0 and Turbo Debugger 5.0 aren't compatible. Does anyone know the latest TD version that can read TP binaries with a symbol table?

It's also not the easiest to pull off on 35 year old hardware, but I like challenges. I'll definitely ask you for feedback once I'm done with the turnaround. Thanks for the offer!

Yeah, but that would be another rabbit hole. I've got enough of those already 😂 I'm gonna try hand-drawn pixel art first

Thanks! It'll probably take me forever to get a perfect turnaround... so I'm aiming for a good one instead 😅

Any tips for drawing isometric pixel art characters in multiple angles?

Isometric Struggles - Episode 7 of Back to the Pascal

I took a first stab at isometric maps on a 386. The new direction definitely makes things more challenging... and I'm not sure yet if I can pull it off.

Thanks for the link. Unfortunately (or fortunately... it's hard to judge without knowing the details), the statement has been edited and is now as vague as everything else I've seen so far.

Movie you’ve watched more than six times with a gif. Hard mode: no Stars (Wars nor Trek), LOTR, or Marvel, Disney Animated or Pixar.

Also, there's this huge rectangle right in the center of the screen. I'm sure you're aware of both issues. I saw your latest devlog, so I assume it'll be gone in the next release. I definitely wanna see where you take this!

Unfortunately I couldn't test it on my 386 since I don't have a coprocessor. I have an AMD K6-2 sitting around, but it's not pluggin in and might be a little overpowered anyway. Looks good in dosbox. Movement is very smooth. I noticed several glitches (vertical lines appearing at certain positions)

Two color palettes and the caption: Your palette vs the palette she tells you not to worry about.

Your palette is the boring standard VGA color palette. The other one the popular Resurrect 64 from lospec.
