The Luton writer behind the original Airplane! How a play broadcast live on Canadian television in 1956 became the famous comedy film Airplane!.

This BBC News Online piece will be the most effective publicity my new documentary about Flight into Danger gets. So if you have enjoyed the programme, think you may enjoy it, or are just a kind soul, if you could please share this anywhere you think it may be worth sharing, I'd be very grateful!

CENTCOM told me Iran keeps hitting their high-value assets so I asked how many they have and they said they just go to the Pentagon and get new ones afterwards so I said it sounds like they're just feeding high-value assets to the Iranians and then INDOPACOM started crying

Very glad our school doesn't do dress up, it just removes a whole mess of anxiety and jealousy (for kids as well as parents).

I complain a lot, so I wanted to call out something positive for a change. I had a genuinely great customer service interaction with @sirencraftbrew.bsky.social this week after a screwup by DPD Local with my order, with their staff going above & beyond to sort everything out.

So cheers 🍻

No stream today, but you can still donate to our @jinglejam.co.uk fundraiser for @autistica.org.uk

We’ve got some great goals we’d love to reach, including our big one…

If we raise £1000 by Friday, we’re going to match that and donate a further £1000!

Valve's problem has always been consistency when it comes to what's allowed on Steam.

That said, there's definitely something weird going on with this game specifically and the way it was getting banned and unbanned from storefronts. The devs have certainly been milking it for all they can.

Northfield highstreet is full of slightly grubby and very soggy flags wrapped limply around lampposts. The occasional gust of wind briefly reanimates them and then they flop back down again.

It's the fact that it's bigger than all the other tags too, like this is not a Star Wars garment that's flammable, it's a Flammable garment that's Star Wars

But at least we wouldn't lose 1/3 of the internet for half a day when something went down.

With Microsoft hiking the price of Gamepass I've decided to cancel my sub and split the £10/month between two very different bastions of independent journalism, @molly.wiki and Popbitch.

There are a tiny handful of examples of season passes being done without any monetisation, and being fun actually, but it's so incredibly rare it barely feels worth mentioning

"The artwork has already been concealed by large sheets of black plastic and two metal barriers".

Of course it has. That is how the British state deals with problems, just cover them up and don't let anyone get close.

Not to mention the uniformed guards.

Whenever I see these articles I just want to ask the people running these companies where they think they're going to get new senior developers from if they stop hiring juniors and sadly I think they're just hoping AI tools get good enough before it becomes issue (it won't)

Reform UK, which has a grand total of four MPs, was just given an uninterrupted platform for an hour and a half on the BBC and Sky News channels, in order to talk about its plans for mass deportations

When was the last time the Greens (with four MPs) or the Lib Dems (with 72) were given the same?

Where Is the Political Leadership Against This Violent Far-Right Movement Terrorising Britain? The silence of senior mainstream politicians and media organisations against the rise of a new well-organised far-right movement on Britain's streets is a disgrace, argues Adam Bienkov

Far right groups are threatening to burn down hotels full of refugees at events attended by senior politicians, while people of colour live in fear after being falsely labelled as paedophiles

How mainstream politicians and media organisations are allowing a violent far right movement to spread

Just discovered that Ebuyer went tits up a couple of weeks ago and I'm sad. It and Dabs (also RIP) were my primary sources for overspending on PC upgrades when I was at uni. Now we're down to a small handful of Not Amazon sites for components and it's not healthy.

For a while I assumed they just didn't want to upset Musk - and by association Trump - by removing the whole government from Twitter, but now Musk is virtually in hiding that doesn't hold up any more, so I have no good excuses for them.

I bought a £30 conbee usb dongle, plugged it into my pi with an extension cable, and started pairing stuff to it. Only caveat is the IKEA pairing instructions are "wrong" if you're not using their app so you have to look up how to pair them.
