This is a heartbreaking story of an author with Long Covid being awarded a prize with draconian promo requirements... and not being given any disability accommodations.
Shit like this is why I wrote "Laser Eyes Ain't Everything".

Ah! Much appreciated, thanks.
But I would happily accept correction from UK residents who understand the system better than I do.
Afaik, UK students take O-level exams at 16 to identify those who should take A-levels/prepare for training or higher ed. After 16, school is no longer mandatory. In 2025, 12.8% of youth aged 16-24 were not in school and not employed.

I love that song. It's an all-time favorite.
The % of women in new senior leadership appointments in 16 countries peaked in 2022 at 34.8% but has fallen for 3 years to 32.8% in 2025. McKinsey finds companies in the top quartile for gender diversity are up to 25% more likely to outperform financially. www.weforum.org/stories/2026...
Dr. @chesyaburke.bsky.social and I are editing an anthology surveying the evolution of Black literary horror. Tentatively titled Black Horror, Then & Next: We Have Always Dreamed in Darkness (FlameTree Press), here are the guidelines…

2nd picture is the old Kirkbride hospital, on the National Register of Historic Places, in Fergus Falls, Minnesota, about 12 miles away. Over 1,500 people lived there at one point, making it 10x bigger than Elizabeth (no slander toward Elizabeth, just pointing it out).
Having benefited greatly from the guidance of @ccfinlay.bsky.social , this is one I’ll be sorry to miss! (Unless I can write a new novel by July…)
Hoping to see more submissions from under-repped groups in my submissions—don't self-reject, it's easier to send me a story about death. We're open until 12/31 (midnight eastern).

Oh, hell yeah! Congratulations!
Good literary translation requires understanding (language, culture, genre--on both sides of the translation) and an ability to write well. "AI" can't do that. There are no shortcuts. Treat your work and foreign language readers with the respect they deserve. You won't fool anyone with this.
I was still in bed
when Monday Morning said
"Wake up, sleepyhead."
His older brothers Doormat Knievel and Wishywashy Knievel hadn't amounted to much, so they had to try something.
Maybe audiences are just risk averse right now, so higher ticket prices (Broadway show, first run movie) discourage casual entertainment because people can just find something new on streaming instead. Want something new? Go dive into K-dramas on Netflix or whatever.

You are well loved, man.
so good
I HAD NO IDEA
seriously, this is the first time I ever heard the original version
it rocks -- thanks!
Well don't I feel stupid
The smaller players are acting with the courage and righteousness that the bigger and more powerful entities all lack. What is the point of money, influence and power if you're not going to use them to do the right thing? Why does wealth reduce men into simpering cowards?
Thoughts, Bob Iger?
Non, non, non! (As the French would say.)
As happens with every. Single. Pilot. Program. That ever looks at anything akin to UBI, it is cheaper to just straight up help people get to a modest financial baseline than to deal with the outcomes of not helping people in poverty.
It’s not news until we deploy it at scale.
In short, I caution against the identification of small businesses as full-blown capitalism rather than looking at most small business owners as fellow members of the class of citizens exploited for the benefit of elite super-capitalists. /fini
