On this day in 1953 Sebastian Faulks was born.
He was once a teacher and then a journalist before becoming a novelist. He is known for writing books such as ‘Birdsong’ and ‘Devil May Care’.
While at university Faulks was on University Challenge. His team didn’t win.

On this day in 2015 Raymond Carr passed away.
He was a famous historian who specialised in writing about Spain and Latin America. He won an award in 1983 from the Spanish king for his work.
