Amazing how badly this White House fails to understand how badly they are damaging US's reputation abroad.
The problem with the insults aren't just about Canadians taking them personally.
Dropping tourist visits & alcohol sales are good measures of those insults' damage to the American brand.

This White House acts like it's an honour & privilege to negotiate with it & thus feeling entitled to demand concessions in the process.
Ongoing drop in tourist visits to the US is a good indicator of how Canadians view this approach to doing business.

Narrow minded too.
So entitled and convinced of his infallibility and self worth, he is unable to fathom or freely willing to consider how badly he has damaged the US and the rest of the world.
Who is more willing to take a punch matters. A CUSMA outcome the White House can't afford is for Canada to walk away as Americans increasingly sour with their government over many things including the economy.
Meanwhile Carney's just gained majority show Canadians still back him.

Hey, I was just providing a friendly observation about a waterway shared for over a hundred years by the ports of Vancouver, Seattle, & Tacoma, amongst others, when somebody thought of it as a security risk!

Sure, having the Columbia River as a new southern border between Canada and the US sounds nice.
And if the US decides to respond militarily, at least there's another Vancouver they could attack instead (the one across from Portland is much closer).
Well if you're going to bring that up, remember that the entrance and exit for the St Lawrence River and Seaway connecting the US side of the Great Lakes to the Atlantic is entirely within Canada!
East of Quebec City, the waterway is also similar in width to the Strait of Hormuz (though longer)
In case anyone's interested in a #PNW / West Coast of #Canada geographical comparable to the Strait of Hormuz (167 km long, 40 km wide at its narrowest)
The Strait of Juan de Fuca between BC's Vancouver Island and WA's Olympic Peninsula is 154 km long and 20-40 km wide.
He didn't need to "use" anything. It was just such an absurd statement that it was easy for him (and the others on stage) to naturally find it too funny to be offended.
This might be the most unexpectedly funny thing I've ever heard in Canadian politics (& that immediate reaction from the PM too). #cdnpoli
Anyone in a family or group relationship knows it doesn't take an Occam's Razor like leap to understand that it's a lot more work to be community minded than selfish but it's better for everyone.
It's why it fit when @dandrezner.bsky.social called Trump a Bullshit Artist about ten years or so ago.
THIS WEEK:
- US criticisms of the World Trade Organization
- Trumpโs actions toward the WTO so far
- That WTO ministerial conference in Cameroon
The Liberals getting a majority tonight wasn't a surprise.
But how badly the vote dropped for the Conservatives deserves just as much attention.
Who needs a majority when the official opposition is this far down?

The same applies to what defines a nation as well. At least in terms of whether the profile of a country should be based on its most successful citizens/leaders or how well all of its people are prospering.
It might be human to just bring up the subject but, uhm, I like pineapple on pizza?
Die Hard is not a Christmas movie!
Are you sure about that? Depends on what direction that train is coming from (Old toon with Bozo the Clown driving in a dark tunnel seeing oncoming traffic: "I'll just drive in between those two motorcycles").
Started playing rec volleyball again a few years ago for the first time since 90s. Watching the #Haikyuu anime with my daughters helped me learn how much the rules have changed (Libero position is new to me, rally point system).
Still can't get myself to kick the ball though it's allowed now!
Are you talking federally or provincially, at least when it came to BC for about the first 20 years of this century?
Alien body doubles? Has AI been deemed incapable of producing fake astronauts?
โThe longer this war drags on, the greater the costs for the United States. Absent a full-scale ground invasion, Iran can hold out. But Trump canโt simply declare victory and tap out either.[โฆ] Trump has lost this war. The only question now is how bigly he loses it.โ
Dan rightly calls it.
Second time in the last hour I brought this story up, but it's another factor that may make moving to Canada that much more attractive to Americans, scientists or not.

Well in that case, maybe you should check out this news earlier this week (& your family records)?

I was just referencing Douglas Adams' Total Perspective Vortex earlier today when it came to looking at Earth in relative terms.

Ya, hey, and thanks to you and @chadpbown.com for maintaining that Trump trade war timeline 2.0 guide. Helped when I had to cram over a year of tariff chaos into two powerpoint slides at work earlier this week! www.piie.com/blogs/realti...
@chadpbown.com & @trade--talks.bsky.social are back! Sum up a year of tariff chaos in 23 minutes? I can relate: crammed all that on 2 powerpoint slides at work this week.
:-b
IMHO, big diff with Trump v2 is v1 was constrained by a more credible team. #CUSMA also eased need to retaliate for #Canada
i might end up posting this 17 times today but if you only read one piece on the anniversary of Trump's Liberation Day Tariffs let it be this one, by @alanbeattie.bsky.social
Doesn't have to be robots. The poor Pikachu front & centre was having a live costume malfunction mid-performance eight years ago. Cue the ensuing chaos between stage hands and security.
